you might want to pick up John Petrucci's Rock Discipline DVD. It is 2 hours long jam packed with useful skills, such as Alternate picking, Sweeps, and keeping in time. If your a beginner, and your serious about playing, then pick this up!

YES! Definetely I learned my sweeping technique just from John Petrucci. I recommend his "Rock Discipline" Dvd a lot. I learned sooo much from.


Just be sure to practice with a metronome, it's the key to achieving speed and accurancy. And PATIENCE!

Yeah, having the DVD is so much better. You don't even need the book if you have the DVD.

another good instruction is kris norris of darkest hour's instructional... www.krisnorris.com i think he has a demo vid of it, he even mentions rock discipline in it, the first exercise is similar to one of petrucci's
