I'm looking for someone to mix my band's 4 track CD (Paid)

Here we go, may redo it tomorrow after I listen with fresh ears. Not totally happy with it (especially the guitars), and I worked quite a bit at the drums.. started off sample replacing but I wanted to work on mixing skills with samples that weren't 100% perfect, so I just used the original files, and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Could do with some sidechaining on the bass to let the kick oomph come through, and the kick is still a little thin I think. LOTS of buzzing and noise, and I had to raise some audio by like 20dB. I don't have Cubase though (for above).

As usual I barely paid attention to the vocals and they're mixed a little soft in places.. will get back to that.

I played a little more with it :p

Please give me some feedback on this one.. (I'm aware about the snare and toms beeing a little thin and the trigger is still a little wild.. )

Btw, there were a couple of problems in the tracks: they were extremely quiet and awfully noisy. The digital noise in the drum overheads is incredible – I tried to mask it in the mix so it doesn’t stand out, but that’s a no-go.

Next time please supply the DIs from the guitars, so they can be reamped. Also, quad tracking wouldn’t hurt (in fact, it will help the engineer to deliver a fuller sound).

This thread is one of the best to display why this forum is so frigging cool. If I hadn't already been in touch with Dan (Swanö) for mixing the forthcoming Evemaster album I'd probably use you guys. And this also shows that mixing is a huge part that can change things drastically. Like we didn't know that but anyways. :D

Seems that Mediafire is fucked at the moment so I cannot listen to most of the mixes but those that I could (with laptop speakers) I'd say that Proggm gets my point. :)

Can I ask why everybody makes them peak so loud? I mean, I know mine is quiet. But it's leveled and you can turn your volume up? Like a lot of them just hurt my fucking ears. haha. Not that they are bad mixes, just really really loud.

Maybe they like them like that? We could sit here picking apart each others mixes all day but that's not how we roll around here.

This forum is a fucking goldmine for contacts. I found people on this forum mixing my albums, doing my artworks and reamping my tracks, for fees a lot smaller than other people in the music industry, and the results are as good if not better.

Yeah, you're right, I apoligize. To each their own style man. Sorry for offending anybody. All these mixes are damn good on here. I'm impressed with all the talent on this forum.

seeing as how i think my mix is loudest of all, to answer your question, it's all about competition. the more powerful your mix is, the more likely you are to get the job, that's all it's about. obviously if leucine decides that their band want a more dynamic mix, then i would tailor a mix to their desires. but right now we are in competition for a paying job, so i'm going to do my best make my mix stand out.

I understand man. I don't know, I just made the mix the best I think the sound deserves, and you did too. I think all of us did a great job, and I'd be honored seeing any one of you guys take the job.
