I love watching studio diary vids, I just wish they wouldn't cut out so much, like preproduction and working the boards, some samples of mixing the sang and maybe just the members shooting the shit in between recording. But most of the time, all you get is the bands in the studio, talking about recording and a few quick bits of actual recording.
OT: regarding Evangalion, the guitars are great. Yes they have a different sound from the stereotypical "metal" sound. they are not harsh, have a lot of clarity and warmth. While they are not as aggressive they blend and separate from the mix so well and just allow you to hear so much going on without the buzzsaw noise that is generally created from typical guitar tone. They don't have the general 5150 or recto sound, but what tone is there really is special for that album, they really fits it well.
