Went camping with some friends this weekend, and it was good. The weather ruled the whole time, we grilled epic bacon cheeseburgers over an open flame, and we shot some cans with handguns. All in all, a successful endeavor.

Our spot was discovered a while back by Phil, he's been mountaineering the Olympic Mountains for ages. This is near the Elwha/Sol Duck area. This spot is a good mile off the beaten path and very hidden. Phil started building a shelter (pics soon) out there and basically it's his personal spot that no one else knows about. It's right on the Elwha River and very beautiful, especially in the weather we had.

Bye Bye Seattle!

Didn't take any pics the rest of the first day because it was dark by the time we got to the campsite. This is the next morning.

This is a leveling station, where the forest rangers measure the water level of the river. There's even a concrete staircase built into the rocks.

This is Phil's shelter that he's building from scratch. All the poles were trees that fell down in windstorms, and the entire thing will be covered in moss when it's done.

Normally I hate it when too much light shines through like this, but I think this might be my favorite pic of the weekend.

Different view with more progress made on the shelter.

I took about 20 different pictures of this weird looking plant. The light green leaves and pitch black stem really made it stand out. It was the only plant like it I saw around.

Fun times, totally not looking forward to work tomorrow haha.

Awesome pics. Looks like a had a thoroughly enjoyable time! Really makes me want to ditch work today, and forever.

Most Rightous pics Kevin, the Earthen shelter is looking awesome. My friends and I built a really epic shelter similar to that while backpacking through the South years back. I can't wait to visit Olympia; hopefully next spring.

Great pics Kevin!

I can't wait to go camping again.
My fiance's family owns land in two different counties up North:)
One of their plots though has a totally pimped out trailer on it. It's not really camping. Full kitchen (frig, microwave, stove, coffee pot, etcc.) Full bathroom with shower and bath, 3 bedrooms! Central air. Craziness.

The other plot is like 20 acres and it's mostly forest. SWEET ACTION!!

I always enjoy looking at your pics though. You gots skills!

Thanks ya'llz <3

Phil took way better pics of his shelter than I did. Check these out.
