Okay, so there is, in this thread, what scientists have been known to refer to as a "buttload" of pics. The first group are from Charlestown State Park, on a trail I photographed back in January in the dead of winter, this time in the full throes of summer life.

A bit of a drop, really; normally, where I'm standing is a shallow waterfall.

Spotted this big dude just chilling out by the road in the park. I actually put it in reverse and went back to take some shots of him. He only ran away when I got out of the car to try and get closer. :(

Far less successful shots of some turkeys crossing the road.

Here begins some shots of the newest trail at the park, on my first time through. Definitely the weirdest one there.

The mighty Ohio River, away from the city where it actually looks blue!

Found this weird barbed wire fence post up against a rock. This whole park was owned by the Army during World War II, so no telling what the hell they were using the wooded parts for.

Froggy!

These more desolate-looking pics come from Falls of the Ohio State Park, home to the largest exposed Devonian (that's 359 million years old, at the youngest) fossil bed in the world. Nothing like pics of ancient dead stuff to convince people you're NOT a nerd.

This one's not quite as remote as the other park.

The Locks that make traveling the Ohio possible at all. Note people fishing in the nasty city water. :puke:

A bird! I haven't bothered to find out what kind it is yet.

Another bird! A gull, maybe?

BLOOD OCEAN (tidepool)

Finally, these last few pics come from Ironstock 2008, a gathering of haunted attraction designers/actors in Tell City, IN that turned out to be a LOT dinkier than I expected, but fun regardless.

Yes, it was a real parrot.

It's true.

Fortunately, I had a bit more fun than this kid.

Awesome view of the Hoosier National Forest/Knobstone Escarpment. Next time I'm in the area, that is where I will be.

Listening to the rules for the coffin races. They had to run around these tombstones on a soaked wet course, take the "body" out of the coffin, then go back again.

Why is it always funny when a fat guy falls down?

Body on the ground...

Hey Russel, so did you finally find good hiking shoes?

Great looking places to hike you got there! Love the pics!

Thanks, and yes, I got some decent cheapos from my local Bass Pro Shop...just some $40 Redheads that aren't too fancy, but they're good for someone such as myself who isn't exactly climbing mountains just yet. I'm satisfied for the moment, although I'm beginning to realize what I'll need in the next pair I buy.
