Well, as some of you may know I have been looking at upgrading my interface, and originally I had a budget of £600-700 for a nice preamp and decent converters. Then I got wind of the Yamaha i88x, by all accounts a very underrated interface with a couple of really nice preamps (from the flagship DM2000 console) and RME level conversion. Loads of expansion possibilities too.
Bearing in mind that it's original retail was close to £900 (check the pic) I managed to find a B-stock demo model (just some rack-rash) at Chappell's in London. It was my lucky day as it had been reduced to.........£50!!
I seriously can't believe that I paid less for this than for my Presonus Inspire. I've already played some of my old tracks through it and damn it sounds sooo clear. Can't wait to record some new stuff. Time to spend my leftover cash on some new mics.... Sorry for the gratuitous post, but I'm so stoked and I needed to share!
