Into Night's Requiem Infernal

Next week we'll have a few days off. This weekend and next week is all drums. We're booked into the beginning of February. We should have mixed and mastered by the end of February, and then maybe we'll have a small listening party for some local friends. ;)

Does local friends include folks form Sweden?

Awesome! Hopefully you guys will come play in Victoria after its release. With the cover art and song titles it looks as if its going to be one kick ass release. I hope the recording goes as smoothly as possible for you guys!

We'd love to put out some vinyl at long last. Unfortunately, up to this point it seems that the label doesn't have much support or confidence in that idea, though we've had quite a few requests for us to put out some vinyl. Who knows, maybe this new album will change things?

:( People are so arrogant when it comes to music. They just won't admit that vinyl rules. :p

I think the whole matter of "vinyl versus cd" is a matter of personal opinion and taste really.

As for vinyl degrading over time from playing it, I think it would have to be a substantial amount of plays before you'd see any major degradation. For me the logical thing to do would be to use a USB turntable and rip the vinyl onto my computer or IPod. With people's interest in vinyl going up, and the cost of turntables going down, I think this is a scenario that's going to become more common.

That's strange. It seems like TER has faith in vinyl for their other bands anyway. Even when we were on the label for our last album, a vinyl edition wasn't even argued - it simply was part of the release schedule. You should knock that door down. As far as I'm concerned, it ain't real until it's on the blessed wax...

hmm ive played my still life vinyl about 10 times or so during the the couple of years ive had it. its started to get a slight hiss and the occasional pop every now and then, also the quality is hardly noticeable but i think its a great addition to any music collection. just not a practical one for listening over and over and retaining the standard.

My other band, These Are They was scheduled to get a vinyl release of the EP coming out, and after a meeting with The End, we were told that the sales number in 2008 for all their vinyl was extremely poor, and hardly sold last year, so they changed it to CD only. I'm not sure if it has to do with economic times, and it's just easier to D/L right now... I do know, I will attempt to talk them into a vinyl release of the new ND CD for sure.

It might have something to do with their target audience, I dunno. Some labels like Southern Lord and various "boutique" labels have seen a boost in vinyl sales while their CD sales have gone down. Some even offer a coupon for a free downlowd of the album with the purchase of the vinyl (kind of pointless, I'd say). The economy doesn't help things. Awhile ago oil prices were starting to affect vinyl manufacturing prices. Etc etc...

I've had this conversation with Andreas as well though...I originally wanted "Of Stone, Wind, and Pillor" and "The Grey EP" to be exclusively on vinyl. I finally got my way with the split 10", heh...
