Introductions

I am after pure RPG, and I am good at it :)
Played Gemstone (I- IV) for about shit...like 12 years off and on? All text, has all the basic D&D stats, characters. Game is expensive now compared to when I started, but all my characters have the most badass shit. My rogue is an archer...has a KICK ass bow! Bah, I miss the lands :(
Is that right Bill? Or was it GS II 12yrs ago...damn I can't remember.

P.S. Damn I am a geek. :erk:

Yes, you are a geek.... But who's the one that brought books and dice along with him on a deployment.... Does anyone else hear a pot and a kettle?

As far as GS... It was GS III when I started playing in '93.
I still miss my crotchety old darkelf empath... but the game would be no fun without the brutal cunt's alter-egos to romp and frolick with, boneshatter roltons, and cloud kobolds....hehehehehehe.

Which alter-ego? The stupid giant, the bitchy daughter you have, the rude, crude rogue or the sweet little empath *flutters her eyelashes*
HA! Run Thail's got lightening! roffle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're purely after role-playing then maybe you're right, but if you prefer a greater level of interaction with the game's mechanics and competing against other players then you have to look elsewhere.

Diablo II? virtually no role-playing, mad mechanics, mad pvp.

there were a few good roleplaying servers for Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights 2, it just takes a little time weeding out the good from the bad. Good RP servers took a lot of work getting into in the first place too.

Comparing Diablo 2 pvp to WoW pvp is like comparing a bike to a plane :p The whole appeal of Diablo II imo was the awesome plot progression/single player immersion, the game lacks sophistication and depth in the pvp department even if it was fun.

WoW has pretty much become all PvP. My best friend and her husband play (she also plays 2nd Life and a new game but I can't remember which one) and that's about all they do, PvP.
I enjoy hunting critters in my game. They hit harder and can do way more damage to her. Most characters 20 levels higher than her can't touch her. If the do it's like for an entire point of damage. Gotta <3 great status and a killer training plan.
Don't get me wrong this characters is a complete bitch and will nail you if you even look in her direction and she doesn't like it (she is my fav, dom cloak and the most lusted after bow in the whole game).
I usually only PvP with her in character though. Like someone stole her kill once and (he was a sorcerer) and she cut his arms off (was using duel simatars at the time). Can't cast with no hands :P
Other than things like that I rarley PvP. Way more to the game then beating some n00b's/posers ass.

pvp was pretty serious in Diablo II. Most people would play through sp just so they could play high level multiplayer.

I could cast with no hands. :P Bone shatter FTW!! :D Nothing like teaching the graveyard crypt folk a lesson now and then. Mwhahahahah!

Well he doesn't have lightening coming out his arse, but..
He does have some interesting stuff in his kilt he likes to show the female GM's.
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Heheheheheheh:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I believe it went something like this:

(From the "victim's" viewpoint)

Thailmore shows you his storm grey kilt.
Inside you see a blue ball, and a blue ball.

:D

Alright...took some digging, but I knew I'd find an introductions thread around here somewhere.

Hail all!

I've been lurking around here for a bit and have finally decided to start posting since there seems to be a good sense of community on this board.

The basic background:

I'm 37 and have been married for 12 years. Four kids, a 14 year old daughter and boys aged 10, 8 and 6. I used to play bass in a couple different bands (nothing you've ever heard of) until carpal tunnel rendered me unable to get through a set, never mind a full show. I also did vocals in one, but I was pretty bad (think Tom Araya with less range) so that didn't last.

I've been a fan of metal in general since my early teens (when Iron Maiden ruled the earth and Metallica didn't suck) but only discovered Amon Amarth about a year ago and realized I had been seriously missing out on one of the best bands around. I'm not a practicing Heathen, but Viking culture and Norse lore really speak to my soul (Swedish and Danish on my mother's side, Flemish and Frankish on my father's), and so does Amon Amarth's music. The first song I heard from them was Valhall Awaits Me and I was completely hooked.

My wife and I will be at the Vancouver show on October 6, so I might get to meet one or two of you there.
