I downloaded this when it first came out and never actually gave it much time, but the saw it cheap so thought I'd do the right thing and buy it.

Well, now I've given it a real good 10 or so spins, and I gotta say, it's their best record since Seventh Son!!!!

Brilliant epic songs, those twin/triple melody guitar breaks, Harris' galloping basslines, and Bruce - well he's just in fine form.

Sorry I'm a bit late but I reakon this is just a brilliant record. :headbang:

(And I'm sick of all the bitching so thought I'd drop a line about something unrelated to Corey / Whitfield / the 'real Anthrax etc etc etc)

I downloaded it first too and then i bought the cd with the limited edition dvd from the UK, got it for about $30 aussie. Plus ive bought every maiden studio album since 'fear of the dark' so had to buy it.

Wow, young grass hoppers it's better late than never to figure this out :) I still think it was the best metal record of the year. People don't give it much of a chance because they think that maiden are 'has beens' etc. But this is proof they are still at the top of their game. If this record was released in 1988 it would have been a 'classic' record just like the others

Love this album. Love this band.

So hoping I get to see them in Europe later this year.

You'd want to as it seems hopeless that they'll ever tour here again. What's with that??? They came here in 1986 and not since despite having a huge fanbase here.

Frustrating....

Not sure either why Timmy but I have been told logistics and dollar wise its not always economical for bands (big bands that is that play arena's) to tour oz.

Odd though I am sure they could sell out every show.

We got 9000 ppl to see Axl Rose + some wannabes ... I mean GnR last week in Adelaide (almost a sellout at the Entertainment centre) so why wouldn't Maiden do the same?

I have a hard time believing that. If they can tour everywhere else in the world, they should be able to play Australia.

Not many bands schedule their dates in Austriallia. Its a far journey and there are not many cities to play there that con consistantly fill up over 10K arenas. To be worth their time they would have to have atleast a 10 city tour in Austraillia and have 10k at each show. Even then its a big journey for them to make that trip with all the gear they have etc.

Maybe YOU should make the trip to go see them in a different country :)

Yeah did that in my young heyday - went to England and saw a ton of gigs in London and went to an Ozzfest in 02. Bit hard now with a family mate!

While I totally hear you on the shows and numbers etc, all I'm saying is that Maiden seem to be the one band that don't come here. We get ALL the big acts tour here. Maiden have gone to Japan countless times over the years but never get down here. There would be 5 cities that would get 10K, and both Sydney and Melbourne would be able to sell out 2 or maybe 3 shows, meaning they could do maybe 8 shows. Sure they don't do too many more in Japan on any given tour?

not really the type of album you would consider 'catchy', so yeah it grew on me as well. Really like it, in fact. Very different for them. Great to see a veteran band still growing and not afraid to take some risks by changing it up a little.
