Is it just me or do you guys find a lot of what you listen to is catchy?

In the recommendations forum there was a discussion about black metal being catchy or not. I find a lot of it catchy in mind. Like earlier I was humming the Transylvanian Hunger riff. I also find myself even find myself whistling some Devourment.

Is it just me?

yeah, a lot of it is. Good power metal and folk metal will of course be catchy. Good death metal will have memorable grooves and possibly catchy choruses. Good melodic death metal will have memorable and catchy melodies. With black metal, some will have memorable melodies and riffs, some just won't.

Man, a lot of the stuff I listen to isn't really catchy, but I would definitely say that it's the hooks that get me to come back to stuff again & again & again.

The way I see it, extreme metal is merely moderately catchy. Which is a good thing.

I catch myself humming Insomnium songs to myself while at work sometimes. They're probably one of the catchier bands I listen to.
