Is it just me, or does Evergrey suck live?

I think this post is just a useless mass. Evergrey is a great band, and since i saw their live videos, i think they perform very well. Any other problems during the concerts like sound issues have nothing to do with the band but sound-men. You are blaming wrong people.

This post will do nothing but breaking the hearts of band members...

Useless mass? I am sharing my opinion, and I was just curious to see what the EG fanboys thought...

And yes... I know from Perpetual Motion that Tom is very touchy about his work! But, as with all artists, if you can't take any negative critique, then you should most likely quit the business!

Oh, and I am NOT blaming the wrong people! IF the sound is bad (which it was at the show in Denmark) then you should still try to do your best... people left the show (note that I was there to support them all the way), because you could clearly see on their faces they didn't have a good time! And I never think it looks like it... well, the first time It looked like Tom enjoyed himself!
But a band should always try to do their best, no matter what! And I do not think EG has done that any of the times I saw them! I may be wrong though!

On a sidenote... all three times I saw them, Mercenary warmed up, and they put on an incredible live performance... maybe EGs is just pale compared to theirs?!?!

Oh... and Illnath, if you did see them in Slagelse, then you must have been really drunk! Not a single person I talked with there thought they slayed!

Haha... It is far from just Danes who think this! Even their own countrymen, the Swedes have said this to me! And two of the three times I saw them was in Sweden...

And Denmark is most likely a bad country to play in... we have something called the Jantelaw, and it kinda affects our way of living... if we want it or not! But I guess you don't give a rats ass...

The Jantelaw unfortunately exists in Sweden as well :loco:

Yeah, and they saw a Malmo show.

Whatever dude, to me it seems like most people really enjoyed the Evergrey shows, I'm sorry it hasn't been like that in your case. There's definitely no doubt about that bands have better and worse gigs though. I've seen a lot of shitty ones but to me it never meant more than a bad performance. I wouldn’t go on insisting on it, kind of jerkish in my opinion.

Stay Grey

I am not insisting on it peza... I really think it is a shame, since i do believe that Solitude, Dominance, Tragedy and In Search of Truth are some of the best prog albums ever released...

The Jantelaw exists in Sweden? Yeah... I can believe that! Still I think there is a slight difference between our two countries, I could be wrong though!

Anyways... sorry I caused this mess, I was just curious!

I have seen them 3 times, and the first time they were ok, but that was also when they just released the snoozefest Recreation Day, so they still played some of their awesome songs from the 3 first albums...

What??? Recreation Day is Evergrey's best album BY FAR. Every single song kicked ass utterly. Plus for some reason the production is way better than their other albums.

Well our Jantelaw makes us hate everyone who "thinks that they are somebody" i.e. if you succeed in anything and thus becomes famous everybody starts hating you. Everyone shall be equal. Stupid way of thinking if you ask me.

Well to me it's their worst album. Everyone has their own opinions. To me ISOT, SDT and TDD are the best albums followed by TIC and then finally RD. I wouldn't call RD to be a bad album though but I prefer the others.

Danish Jantelaw says "Don't believe you are something, cause you are not"... It is weird the Swedes has it, since the idea came from a Norwegian/Danish writer... oh well...

The Inner Circle is their worst album, then comes Recreation Day! The others I won't even call bad, because they all rock!

I've seen them live once, and it was with Iced Earth and COB. This was the Toronto show, and I was at the back of the lineup getting into the club, so I missed pretty much half of their set. But when I did get in, maybe I wasn't paying much attention, but they were just standing around; there was none of the energy I saw in the DVD preview. Well, at least they weren't as energetic as CoB.

But I'd see them again nonetheless, it could have been an off-night.

For me, the last good song on the Recreation Day is Visions. Then, I'd gladly push the skip button until Unforgivable. Those songs in between just don't have enough riffs for me. And they don't have solos either.

I'm Sorry is awesomely heavy IMO... also a single. So was Blinded actually! That song was OK, I don't love it or hate it. Fragments is kickass, with an emotional chorus. Madness is kind of cool, a nice break before Darkest Hour (my favorite EG song!) How could you not like that song, it's beautiful! And actually I think Unforgivable was the worst song on the album, and Darkest Hour would've made a lot more sense as a finale...

Second time they absolutely sucked, no contact, no energy, BAD sound, bad setlist.

Third time was even worse...

Am I the only one experiencing this?

Np: Time Machine - Evil

It's just you. You are obviously some nitpicky quasi-fan that likes to complain when there is nothing to complain about. Keep listening to your 3rd-rate power metal.

I saw Evergrey only once in april 17 in Budapest...we were shamelessly few but Evergrey made one of the best concert of my life.:worship:
So I don't know what the topic starter talking about :D :OMG:

Hey Daniel... didn't know you posted here! What's up?

I can say that I am not the only one who thinks they suck live, but I wanted to hear the EG fanboys opinion...

I have several EG picks (3 or 4)... and I must say they look cool!

Sorry if I offended anyone here, but no band (besides Queensryche) has ever been so boring to watch as Evergrey (not counting in the countless amateur newbie bands I have seen)...

Anyways... I am not going to see them again!

Mads you need to switch over to the dark side man, your lost. Maybe The White Stripes or something would be more your speed.
