Is it wrong that I prefer the PodXT's tubescreamer to the maxon od808?

been reamping quite a bit recently, and im way preferring the pods ts to the real thing :S

the mids seem more focussed (the real one seems loose and muddy compared). obviously each will have their uses, but for tight metalcore-esque stuff the pod one seems better.

would a od9/ts9 or od820 be more like the pods model?

anyone else experienced this who has a 808 and a pod?

I'll try and get some clips soon.

I sent my TS9 to a friend so he could see what it could do for him, basically to convert him. I told him I was ok without it for a while, been using the PODfarm TS plug on my reamp output since then and honestly my tones have been better than ever before haha. Dunno if that is just coincidence or if it's because of L6's sounding "better", but I'll take it all the same.

YES!

Dude WTF are you smoking. Probably some form of Donkey Pole or something ... jesus christ you have no idea WTF good tone is ... you retarded mother fucker ....

Just kidding man everyone has different ears and tastes. If you like the POD who are we to tell you its wrong!

Use what you like, enoy what you use and rock the fuck out !!

we haven't tried running podfarm on the DI track using just the TS sim and then reamping that way...

IDEAAAA!

=D

just one more flavor to add to the arsenal =D

Done that with the TSS before I got my ts-7, actually had a few boost pedals including a ts-9 while doing it but ended up going with the tss cause we liked the tone more, just suited that particular guitar/amp/player well and suited the recording at the time.

the maxon has a really weird built in low cut/mid boost that some other T.S Dont have. Some do....

Here's the .wavs for anyone who's interested in being clinical about it.

Setup was some Schecter guitar (I don't know which, whatever the band brought) > 6505+ (green channel) > Mesa Oversize > Sm57 and AT4040 (mostly 57) > UA 610B preamp for the 57 and Presonus Tubepre for the AT4040. No processing whatsoever. The only thing different is Pod farm screamer on the channel in one take, and my maxon in front of the amp in the other. "Same" settings, level and tone and noon, gain at 9oclock

The maxon is darker and the low mids are different as well. I could certainly see using either depending on the style and feel of the song. Another tonal possibility! I don't think one cleary wins.

I dig the upper mid bite the pod tube screamer gives in these clips. Im going to have to try this on some reamps now. See if i get the same results.

POD TS seems to make the GTRS sit in the mix better and sound more 'pro'. MUST experiment w/this on Thursday!!!!!!!! I'll post some a/b's w/the deathcore song DI's =D
