is metal dead?

I never said they were ripping anyone off, they just suck. And I've heard Toxicity.

In fairness, by saying someone "isn't original at all", you're suggesting that they've ripped off previous bands rather than "they suck".
Putting the audio of a Kangaroo having an abortion though a wah wah pedal would probably suck but it would still be original.

Metal right now is far better than it ever has been. There are new bands all the time that are absolutely awe-inspiring, such as:

Agalloch
maudlin of the Well
Ram-Zet
Underoath
Ephel Duath
Virgin Black

And the list goes on and on.

Who does SOAD rip off? Faith No More. Easy enough. Serj is a total Mike Patton clone.

They'd be alright if they got rid of that guy doing the Beavis impersonation of Chuck Schuldiner.

I'll have 2 tacos pleeeeaaaasssee.... and an order of FRIIIIIIIIEESSSSS...

glory days of metal........late 90s........you are kidding ...arent you ?

the glory days of metal were from the mid 70s thru to late 80s, i think the 90s output was not a patch on the times ive listed. then again,,i was in my teens from 1982 on,...maybe its age related.

They might be a solid band, but original is something they're NOT. When Children of Bodom came out with basically the same formula it was somewhat new and fresh. What's so new and fresh about Skyfire? I'd rather listen to System of a Down. Laugh all you want but at least they're original.

Not original? How much of their material have you listened to? I have both their studio albums, along with all four of CoB's. They have similarities...no shit...but they have a totally different feel. Bodom is about having fun and doing crazy fucking solos...Skyfire does no solos, just incredibly complex and technical guitar leads. They also omit all those silly samples, and war cries. Both bands use keyboards...Skyfire uses them more for atmosphere, where as bodom uses them to sorta show off at times. Listen to "shapes of insanity", and tell me they arent original...

My ass. Heavy metal is alive and well. Like what Chuck said... It's the beast that will never die. So many heavy metal groups that are out now I love them man:

All That Remains
Biohazard
Black Label Society
Bolt Thrower
Candiria
Cryptopsy
Down
Dying Fetus
Entombed
God Forbid
Lamb Of God
Morbid Angel
Overkill
etc etc

Um, Pain of Salvation are one of the more brilliant bands on the planet. Don't respond to me with your aesthetics bullshit either, I'm not interested.

please, for everyone's sake, tell me that crazymetalguy is a joke account. please. please.

*shoots self*

It's unfortunate that some can't simply have their opinions and voice them in a mature way without shitting on the opinions of others.
I'm also seeing frequent use of the word 'gay' in a derrogatory manner, and use of the word 'fag' seems to be gaining some momentum here as well. Homophobia is pretty pathetic. Hostility towards gays and their lifestyle is almost always a manifestation of one's own repressed homosexuality. Seeing a therapist or joining a support group can often be helpful for those struggling with their sexual identity. Don't be ashamed of your true self!

I've found that homophobia is far more often found amongst religious affiliates as opposed to secretly gay men. In fact, in the Bible, in Deuteronomy (probably misspelled) I believe, it commands the followers of Judeo-Christianity to spill the blood of any homosexuals they meet. Certainly, in those times, God was no stranger to violence, commanding his followers to destroy whole cities, only preserving the young virgins who were to provide new soldiers in an army for a God of hatred and death.

calling something "gay" doesn't mean someone is a homophobe, or is gay it just means they don't like something. stop taking everything so damn seriously.

Yes, yes, and saying "my pals" is a sign that you're secretly black. Please, the Freud wannabe gimmick is played out.
Secretly black? That'd be tough to pull off. :erk:
I wasn't trying to play Freud. I was merely stating a well known, well documented fact. If I were going to play Freud, I could link your misdirected hostility to penile dysfunction, but I'm not going to do that.
You completely missed my point.

Nevermind.

LA, I fail to see what your fallacious, theistic ramblings have to do with anything in my previous post. You were really reaching with that one.

Hatebreeder, as far as use of the word 'gay', it's all about context.
If you've read some of my other posts here, you'd see that there's not much that I do take seriously. Dying Sun and Luminous Aether (whom I believe to be the same person) do little in this forum but trash other people's opinions. I usually keep my mouth shut and ignore the infantile bullshit, but this time I felt like saying something.
I'm now reminded of why I usually ignore such posts.
Responding to them is a complete waste of time.

Everyone else,
I apologize for having fed the trolls. Do I have to pay a fine or anything? :erk:
