IS SLAYER WASHED UP?

Do you know I hate christian scum ?

...anyways

There of plently of things before and during the sametime. I do not see how someone can think metal music would actually be different without either. Regardless there is probably no point in even arguing this.

Well Slayer and Metallica didn't exactly do it all alone. Sure, there would have been a difference, especially in commercial impact since we're talking Metallica, but you'd have to delete the whole friggin' US and german Thrash scene to stop the evolution

I dunno, it just seems like alot of people here don't like thrash metal and it really irritates me when people treat metallica and slayer like commercial pop rock bands

I fucking love thrash BTW (sepultura, possessed, slayer, megadeth, overkill, kreator, sodom, metallica, etc... etc...)

I love thrash too as long as its on the extreme edge like 80-90's Kreator, Slayer etc. I can't stand the more heavy metal-ish bands though, if we're not talking Overkill, who obviously own by default just because of Blitz.

I still say Thrash and Death would have had a similar route without Metallica and Slayer. Slayer did push heaviness around 83-85, but so isn't really the case with Metallica imo. Metallica's debut is more catchy than heavy or vicious

yea bands like metallica and megadeth were speed/heavy/ thrash metal

rust in peace, reign in blood, AJFA <<< my top 3 thrash albums overall

I can't believe some people here think early megadeth sucks, that is absolutely mindblowing

Black Sabbath,Judas Priest,Motorhead,Iron Maiden,Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Bathory,Venom,Mercyful Fate.

the problem with megadeth for me is mustaine's vocals and the lack of extremity. i usually don't fall for catchy and rocking bands, though i agree that holy wars is one hell of a song. they don't suck aside from the latest cds, but i don't find them particularly awesome either.
good choice picking AJFA, that's the album in metallica disco i see as the best even though i haven't listened to them at all in two years.
i'd say Coma of Souls and Seasons In The Abyss (ye, i know my fav slayer album is not the average choice) for thrash pwnage of choice

well megadeth is speed/heavy metal more than anything

mustaine's vocals are pretty average but the band was very good overall

rust in peace is a masterpiece

yeah, thats prolly why i dont really get into them. ive got a weird musical taste since im mostly into either extreme stuff or melancholic stuff, so the in between stuff usually needs to be damn good for me to take notice
