Is there any animosity between 'thrax and metallica?

Wether or not you actually play music makes no difference as to the validity of your opinion. In short, don't be a dick.

Gotta agree with you there. First off...just because you play, doesn't mean you're any good and it doesn't prove that you're any more knowlegable than another fan. I've been playing for 26 years, but I couldn't tell you whether an Anthrax show was great or not because I don't really know the music and I'm not a huge fan.

Sometimes being a musician (and I'm not saying this guy is) makes you ultra critical and you can't see the big picture. It's the mega-fans that really know their band!:headbang:

What qualifies one to call themselves a musician? If you play guitar or any instrument very well does this make you a musician?

ok, since I am an uncertified metallica/anthrax FREAK, I will add my two cents. I will quote Lars on the subject. "We look at bands we like that are just breaking through, and we ask them to tour. If they say no, or manangement says no, then we go to the next least favorate. But we get all kinds of friends and bands asking us to take them on tour. Sometimes we can take them, sometimes schedules or personal reasons they cannot."
So there is Lars side from a magazine article of SO WHAT that I have. Lets also remember history too, what happens when you get two big name bands together? You get a Guns N Roses happening again, NOT that Anthrax would, or whatnot, but two egos like that sometimes dont mix. We also do not know stories between the two bands. Yeah, Kirk and Scott are friends, but does any other member really "like" any of the other of said band? As much as I like Metallica, Lars can be a complete asshole and really enjoys that moniker.

It might be respect too. Maybe a "you have your thing, we have ours, and they dont mix" type of thing. Personally, seeing Anthax and Metallica together for a tour would be awesome, just about like seeing Megadeth and Metallica play (like THAT would happen). My point is this: I do not think it is entirely up to bands and their members who tours with whom. Suggestions can be made, but I am sure there are legalities and other reasons why we wont see them together, at least not as

...bands on the same bill. Besides, if Metallica was so great and all that and relative to metal, then why has Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Pantera, and Ropb Zombie been co headliners at Ozzfet, but not the "almighty" metallica? As much as I like metallica, the "metal" in their name is more "rock." As in Bob Rock.:ill:

Watch both videos back to back, and tell me they arent IDENTICAL. Then listen to the songs back to back, and hear the similarities.
I've never seen the fueled video, but yeah, the main riffs in the 2 songs are WAY to similar.

Because the headliner is always ozzy/sabbath, and metallica are quite simply a bigger act than anyone ozzfest has ever had.

Because when Metallica tours they generally bring in a bigger crowd on their own than Ozzfest does with 20 bands total.
