Im looking for something fresh to inspire me again... something new, like when SYL and fear factory came out... lot's of synths, industrial noises, heavy shit...

Im done with my windows media player playlist!

Anyone?

Cheers.

Ditch Media Player. Get iTunes. Ready?

OK. Here's some bands to check if you haven't already:

Mnemic
Raunchy
Engel
Sybreed
Threat Signal
Dir En Grey
Porcupine Tree (for the ambient / prog side of things.)

Have heard of the first three, Engel is the shit btw! i love their stuff, and a wicked, WICKED sound as well! I remember showing Mendel a video clip of their first song, which had a great sound on it allready...

Cheers guys, keep em coming!

I was feeling the same way. Metal was growing a bit stale. Then I decided to go to the instrumental side.

Planet X is amazing. (their getting Allan Holdsworth on their new album!!!!)
Spastic Ink
Twisted Into Form's new album is inspiring as is the new Zero Hour EP
Lye By Mistake are taking fusion elements to the "core" arena

Actually, since listening to a lot of jazz/fusion, my metal side has been inspired to throw that into the metal click.

If you haven't gotten into Mastodon, that shit will grow on you in the same way FF and SYL did for me! Not that it's that new...

Good question Bob

You know what Genius? i have tried mastadon a lot of times... i just cant get into it at all... i keep hearing about them, people love them, i see great reviews, but just like intronaut, i cant be hooked on to them.

Yeah I wouldn't exactly lump Mastodon in with FF or SYL. Mastodon is kinda just strait ahead metal with no frills or anything.

Ummm, have you heard Misery Signals? The new album is kinda cool. They are sorta metalcore, but I really dig the music. They keep it interesting....and I absolutely hate most metalcore. I could do without the vocals though.

It's not new music but much of it is synth based metal...try bands like(not even sure if they exist anymore) Screw, Schnitt Acht, Circle Of Dust, Soulstorm, Pitch shifter, Spine wrench, Godflesh, Bile...I can upload a few of these tunes if you are interested...most of it is early industrial rather than metal that we know of today.

Threat Signal

Good call - though I preferred the sound of the demo to the album. It's a great debut though.

Lye By Mistake was a great suggestion by whoever said it too.

My grrlfriend played me some Interlock recently. They seem to have a bit of everything in the cyber/industrial/metal end of things, with a touch of Goth thrown in for good measure too - I normally hate that kind of music by they caught my interest.

I dig the new Haunted album... listening to that a lot.

STILL listening to Katatonia's most recent... Communic is fucking killer for Nevermore fans. The Duskfall is kicking my ass too.

That's off the top of my head.
