Is there anything new out there in the metal world?

Yeah Arsis is so sweet. I was supposed to see them tomorrow but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it now :( . I've been to listening to this band The Demonstration a lot too lately

Yeah, Arsis is definitely bad-ass.

Also, Anata... not well known, but, good black metal type stuff... somewhat similar to Arsis

Khanate! I think they're disbanded though..

While I'm at it:
Cephalic Carnage, Yob, Gorguts, Lykathea Aflame and Immolation are some of the bands that have inspired me in the past and still does!

Hey Bob, man you beat me to the thread. I was wondering the same thing. Glad to see the guys here didn't dissapoint. I'm totally digging scar symmetry. It's like Metal/Kansas. Fricking sweet!

Sikth have a real original vibe, dug their new album for a while.
Gojira is kicking my ass right now.
Should have the Threat Signal album in the mail tommorow.
Waiting for the Toxic Grind Machine album release.:heh:
Some bands I have to check out:Pitch Black Progress, Arsis, Sybreed

The new DAATH album, mix being wrapped on by CR right now, is a very fresh sounding album. i highly recommend it.

Hell James the stuffon their myspace page is amazing aswell. I a definitely looking forward to this release .. even though your not in the band as i initially thought .... lol

And of course we are all waiting paitently for what could be the best metal album of 2007 the Death tribute .... ha ha

i'm looking forward to it as well... i have 2 mixes done and the label and guys that have played on the tracks are all very happy... i'll start again next week though it will be mostly towards gathering final performances. This week i've been tracking the last of the Vocals, Keys, Solos and Acoustic guitars for the new Rise (california) album, "PentagramNation". it is coming out killer.

 Wintersun!

Or actually, anything Jari touches - Ensiferum's first two records were good too, especially "Iron" since it had Flemming with his magic on it, but Ensiferum are rather screwed since Jari left, their latest EP was a big letdown.
Back to Wintersun - I can't believe this band has such a relatively small fanbase with other IMO semi-mediocre bands (ie GuitarWorld's-favorite-finns) being hailed as the ultimate axe wizards! Wintersun embrace such diverse elements and blend them together exceptionally well - they're like Malmsteen's "Rising force" :notworthy vs Nasum :notworthy vs Ultravox! Or Judas' "Painkiller" vs Emperor's "In the nightside eclipse", I guess the person who invented the term "power death" got it pretty accurate, although they seem very much on the grind side of things (makes sense having Kai Hahto on drums) drumwise!
Saw them live in July, getting to see them again in 2 weeks, new record postponed to summer 2007 though!

Anyway, check 'em out if you haven't yet!

I was gonna say DAATH as well, brutal band I reckon.
Been listening a lot to Darkane recently, blistering tunes, guitar and production.
Anyway just buttin in, I'll get tae fook.
