Some countries aren't held up under international copyright law.... This is probably one of them.

Hmm Probably would be a lot less work for us poor folk if we just forward these details to Metallica's agents seeing as they are selling the complete back catalogue including several bootlegs .

I'm very surprised, but I got a reply:

"Hello, Lasse
As it says on FAQ page (http://mclub.com.ua/about.phtml ) we're paying
royalty to UACRR in accordance with license agreement with them.

UACRR is a member of CISAC. We're not sure if you have any agreements with
CISAC.
But if you're completely disagree with that action we've blocked access to
your albums on our site.
It's removed from sales offer.
Anyway we can leave info about your releases on our site.

And at last we can cooperate directly.
We can provide online statistic of tracks sales. So you can watch as it
goes. And every year quarter we'll share 50% of total sales to you by
PayPal.

So let me know about your decision.
Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Head of TeNeT Design Group

The problem is: There is no such thing as "international copyright law". Agreements and conventions like the Berne Convention do exist and provide some sort of standardization, but they leave many core aspects untouched and down to national legislation.

Especially the regulation of the digital domain lacks standardization. While the US (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) and the EU (Directive on the enforcement of intellectual property rights) established directives years ago to at least cover some needs of the digital age, countries like the former Soviet Republics catch up only very slowly.

Add corruption, Mafia, lack of law-enforcement, lack of information and a different cultural treatment of copyright and you got nothing else but a giant mess.

I'm quite confused about this. They're like "yeah sorry dude, but we can share 50% if we all hush?" Or did I miss something?

By the way, I wanna mention again who awesome that Nonsense album is.

Searched my own band, not there, boohoo now I feel lame, I wanna get ripped off too hahaha

+ even if you and them agree to terms it can still cost an arm and a leg in legal fee's to get them to pay up, that is if they dont suddenly disappear before that eventually takes place.
The web is a rats nest .

thats a shame... why would you want to agree to that deal, when they even dont have a right to publish things in the first place??

btw: google your bands' releases, its fun to see what you can find there! torrents, etc...

I have found my band's first DEMO being sold on similar websites (even though we were giving it for free)!
I sent an email, telling them that they could either remove it from their site, or leave it for FREE download. Never got a reply, but they instantly removed it!

It's obvious that these sites upload Cd's so that they can profit from those willing to spend 1-2 dollars in order to download it. If the artist finds that out, they fear that they might be sued, so they either erase it, or try to make a deal with the artist to share the profits (they will still have profits anyway!!)

We should do an "Andy Sneap forum" DDOS to them, lol!
This shit is hilarious, since there are so many artists around here getting screwed they probably read on this forum too.
