To me Neurosis peak at "Times of Grace", while I'm still more fond of "Souls at Zero".
So yes, "Salvation" > "The Eye of Every Storm", even if the latter is and will remain a big big number. You can't always bring forth band status over album quality.

I like their folk/ambiant orientation more. Regardless of the band status, I still think that The Eye of Every Storm is miles ahead Salvation. Don't get me wrong, Salvation is an amazing record and definitely in my top 10 of 2004.

i have Through Silver in Blood, & Jarboe, and The Eye of Every Storm. i much prefer the newer stuff, which Neurosis should i get next?

Considering the fact that you prefer the newer stuff, I would go with A Sun That Never Sets.

Why does no one ever talk about Souls at Zero? "To Crawl Under One's Skin" is like WHOOOOAAAHHHH!!!!! total testicle jerking.

I like Souls at Zero a lot. But for me, they peaked with ToG, and I also love TSiB.

No ever talks about ENemy of the Sun, either. THough that has one of their best tunes in Raze the Stray.

NAD should definitely check out A Sun that Never Sets and the Sovereign EP. THe EP is some of ther most experimental stuff. ANd don't worry about it being short, it's like 40 minutes long.

Agreed about the EP, it's all good...

That's exactly what I'm thinking each time I give it a spin. And then it's back on the shelf for another three months...

Unfortunately, I can't include frequency of listening as something that determines how good an album is to my ears. I simply have too much music.

I don't even know if that made sense, lol

It does. I have around 375 cds and it's way too many to give them each proper attention. Do we have a new thread on the way there? Been done already I presume...

I have over 1300 metal CDs. Imagine my issues.

Especially when I can't seem to go more than 2 weeks w/o listening to Powerslave. :tickled:

i've listened to Monumension a few times now. i like it, but it needs more time to grow. one thing i really really REALLY dig more than Below the Lights is the production. fucking wow man, that is how rock n' fuckin' roll should sound. :kickass:

I knew you would like it. Listen to the very end of "Convoys to Nothingness", where it fades to only the bass. That fukkin bass tone is KILL and DEATH.
yes, that ending is really cool. and that tone is something special, i'd love to know what equipment that dudes uses. my guess is an old Ampeg SVT or some other massive tube amp. although i don't really know, bass tones generally fall into the two categories for me, Sucks and Rules. :loco:

I'm listening to Isa right now, for the first time. I have to say, I'm amazed (really) that several of you have such distaste for this. It's pretty fucking good.

You know what, it's a very good album but it's just not as good as Below the Lights IMO, so it was a step down. Plus, these days (last 12 months) I've been liking Vikingligr and Eld....so Isa comes somewhere last on the Enslaved picking list.

Glad you liked the CD 'cos it was collecting dust over at 59 Riverside.

I definitely don't doubt you would love it though, especially when driving your Amon Amarth-mobile (aka the Saab). :loco:

I have whiplash from windmilling while driving last night. x the approximate weight in lbs. of Thor's Hammer
