Yep Nate is right , TMBOR is very hard to listen to . I don't even say 'like' , just listen to the whole album is a challenge . The other two are sold-out , I don't have the originals still . They are supposed to be re-released (been 6 months since it should have though , grzegjfgdfg!). Get mp3's meanwhile if you can / want . It's since TMBOR that Blut Aus Nord became a musical UFO
. If you find interviews in English , they're very interesting . BAN does not consider themselves Black-Metal really , and they piss on what BM has become today, BUT it's not free bashing , they have their ideas of what should BM be , and they develop their conception of Music , around philosophy and self-reflexion.

No doubt the Candlelight signature will permit them to pull a new masterpiece (Asylum of Disharmony is the title )

I'd have to say the silence interplay is my favorite element of TWWTG, so I will: the silence interplay is my favorite element of TWWTG.
I'll second that. Or third even. :loco:

TWWTG only works well with extreme volume & on headphones. This isn't shit you put on in the background as you surf the web, or whilst driving through LA gridlock.

I agree that this isn't conventional BM, or that they might frown upon that description - they seem to be pushing the envelope which is good. They'll be pleased to know that RC recently implemented an all inclusive naming convention so nobody will refer to them as just "black metal" ever again. :tickled:

<vocal style> <lyrical theme[free text]> <genre tag> <descriptor adjective[free text]>

Someone care to adopt this for BAN?

Listening to TWWTG while driving fast in the middle of nowhere = one of the highlights of my many listening experiences. Seriously.

Blut Aus Nord are Black Speed Happy Silence Shart Fun Metal. Hmm, I guess that doesn't fit the scheme.

Ach, I'm bad at this!

I have to agree that The Work... is an album that only sounds like a visionary release in the proper atmosphere...I need to pick up the earlier Blut Aus Nord albums, I've heard Ultima Thule and Mystical Beast mentioned the most frequently, though the latter gets a few negative comments.

time to update that count speedster...

1) Mastodon - Leviathan
2) Drudkh - Autumn Aurora
3) Isis - Panopticon
4) Dub Buk - Rus Ponad Vse
5) Converge - You Fail Me
6) Vehemence - Helping the World to See
7) Pig Destroyer - Terrifyer
8) Finntroll - Nattfödd
9) Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine
10) Blut Aud Nord - The Work Which Transforms God

i only heard like 12-13 albums that were actually new this year, as i spent most of my time checkin out older albums and new genres an shit. this list would look way different if it was just a top 10 of what was new to me this year, but oh well. the top 7 had at least some time dominating my playlist. and with only a few listens each im still trying to fully digest DEP and BAN.

so Dreamlord, are you almost done?--it looks like you just need to add rankings next to albums. And yes Neal you and J will determine what band will be no 1.

Very respectable list. Although I'm still not understanding the big tit-sucking fest over Drudkh.

Hmm, looks like them thar BAN albums are a bit pricey still. Which ones should I be on the lookout for then? The only cheap one I'm seeing besides TWWTG is The Mystical Beast of Rebellion. :tickled:
Don't get Mystical Beast, it's their weakest effort by far. I would say Ultima Thulée is the most similar to TWWTG, the guitar work sounds kind of mechanical at times and there's plenty of ambient work that complements the songs. Ultima is a bit more spiritualistic, if that makes any sense.

Oh and be on the lookout for the Blut Aus Nord split with Reverence, kick ass shit!

I hate numbering these lists and I always end up forgetting releases but here's a go at it.

1. Azrael - Into Shadows Act II : Through Horned Shadows Glimpse
2. Hate Forest - Battlefields
3. The Gathering - Sleepy Buildings
4. Deathspell Omega - Si Monumentum Requires Circumspice
5. Drudkh - Autumn Aurora
6. Wyrd - Vargtimmen Pt. II
7. Morgion - Cloaked by Ages, Crowned in Earth
8. Esoteric - Subconscious Dissolution into the Continuum
9. Demonoid - Riders of the Apocalypse
10. Xasthur - Telepathic with the Deceased

Where did you find these interviews?!?!? i'm trying to find them, but no luck so far.

I didnt find any , I supposed some interviews were translated which is appearenly not the case .

I listed the final results by editing the first post of this thread. I added J, Thanoptsasis, doomcifers revised, Neal, HenrikMan and Marksveld top ten lists. I believe that is everyone.

Revised Happenings, Finntroll and Hate Forest enter the list after a strong late showing finishing tied for 10th. Orphaned land dropped from #3 to #6. Nasheim (#3 up from #5) and Deathspell (#3 up from #4) both moved up, Mastodon jumped 3 spots (#4 up from #7), and Neurosis moved up one spot ( #9 up from #10). The Chasm dropped from #6 to #7 despite adding points. Crowpath dropped from #10 to #12.

That's a pretty respectable list.
