Isis Fans... (if there are any)

I think In the Absence of Truth is my favorite Isis album now. Everything just clicks for me: bass, drums, vocals, and guitars.

So does anyone else here just love the second intro to Poison Eggs? Right after the clean guitar, and the distorted guitar just comes in. Wonderful.

what about the keyboards? :p:loco:

yeah, i agree that that's a GREAT intro.

Favourite album by em is most definitely Oceanic, such a masterpiece of an album. I do believe I enjoy the new album more then Panopticion mind you, after the first two songs, seemed to get kinda dull. Amazing band, I love the whole atmospheric sludge/post-metal genre. Cult of Luna is also amazing, their Salvation album has to be one of the best in the genre.

What ? I joined this forum just to respond to your quote here.. On the Panopticon album, tracks 3 and 5 - "In Fiction" and "Syndin Calls" are two of the top ten songs I have ever heard in my life. And I am 35 and have listened to rock/metal religiously since I was 13 years old.. And track 7 - "Grinning Mouths" is fantastic as well .

You need to listen to the musicianship how they build up to their crescendo's with the 3 guitars they use.. It's sheer brilliance. Panopticon is the most original album I have heard since Tool's Lateralus ..

Since I mentioned Tool here, listen to the Backlit track off of Panopticon. Fast forward to 3 minutes and 50 seconds into that song and play.. Now listen to the guitars and the overall mood of that song forward. Listen to the first guitar, then the second 30 seconds later, then the 3rd guitar come in later..

Notice how the whole last 4 minutes of that song sounds like vintage classic Tool .. It is absolutely phenominal and I couldn't get that instrumental piece out of my head for a month.. It's just Sick good..

Panopticon is simply a sheer epic masterpiece of an album, much better than Oceanic. The songs flow one to another like a jar of honey being slightly tilted. What a ride, what a journey !! It's an epic masterpiece .. The song structuring (and composition) on that album is some of the very best we have seen in the last 15 years , maybe more.

Panopticon is just Monolithic. Dynamic. Encompassing. Passionate. Serene. Elephantine. Colossal. Beautiful. Essential....

I live in Canada and don't have In The Absence of Truth yet because it's not being released here for another few days.. But I am getting it the morning it comes available . The reviews I've seen such as this one, sure look promising -

BTW, anyone who likes Isis make sure you buy the self-titled Jesu album .. Here's some reviews by listeners on amazon.com with some even comparing them to isis (and I fully agree) .. This album is fantastic.. Pure genius.

Isis have announced they will have a North American tour, and will be touring with Jesu in late February to April in North America.. That will be a heck of a show.. Jesu is just wonderful as well..
