It's Official: COREY TAYLOR Is Working With ANTHRAX On New Album

SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor has confirmed that he has been working with ANTHRAX on material for their upcoming studio album. Speaking to Germany's Rock Hard magazine, Taylor said of the possibility that he will become the new ANTHRAX singer, "It's been banded about. I'm not saying anything right now because all it's been is just talked about. Obviously, I'm really good friends with those guys. It kind of started as a joke. And then the more we talked about it, the more serious it got. I'm gonna at least help them out. It's kind of a dream come true — ANTHRAX is one of my favorite bands. We're just kind of taking baby steps right now. I know that we worked on about eight or nine songs together that I've written lyrics for, and there was a song that I had actually written for them that I was just gonna give them the music for, and once this kind of happened, I had to turn around and write lyrics for it myself. But there's nothing definite right now. It's one of those things where it's like we're just gonna kind of play it by ear and just see what happens. So there's nothing definite. It's something that we're talking about — it's something that we kind of wanna do. But I'm in two huge bands right now. So it's like I barely get enough time to sleep, let alone do another band. . . I'm gonna be busy, period. I'm just kind of honored that they would even consider me. These are people that I grew up listening to, these are guys that I had the privilege of getting to know on a real basis. To have them look at me and go, 'You know what? We would love to work with you.' It's such a huge compliment. It kind of makes me feel like I've come a long way in my life."

ANTHRAX announced its split with vocalist Joey Belladonna in January, less than two years after the group's classic lineup reunited for a "25th anniversary" tour. A replacement singer will officially be announced at the end of June, according to guitarist Scott Ian.

I'm torn between laughing at how cool that would sound and how.... well, it's the lead singer of Slipknot. It this is going to kick ass, he becomes the new singer, or what...

Fuck, I will miss John. An awesome singer and a really class act person.
But, Corey Taylor is a great singer with a lot of exposure, and Anthrax need exposure because they've lost a lot of fans with the split with Joey in 92 and the split with John in 2005.
But dont expect a long tour and a lot of touring, because Corey have 2 arena band who sold a shitload of album, Anthrax his is 3rd band, more a project than a band for him.
At least, it's not Belladonna.

Once again, glad I read Billy Milano's FREE message board and Blabbermouth's FREE news site instead of paying for the CDC to get my Anthrax news first.

In the meantime, it's time to quit calling this soap opera "Anthrax", rename it something new, because this isn't Anthrax.

Milano was right again. Anthrax is officially over and Nu Metal. Welcome to the family Corey. TAke a seat next to John Bush. What doesn't Die just did.

There it is... I think it is kinda funny. I know he isn't the best of friends with the members of SK, but I've read that Corey said that they will do at least one more album/tour, and SS is doing well and Corey Taylor has stated this is the music he loves doing with the people he wants to do it with. So if it does in fact happen, Anthrax will probably put out the album and it'll do well, just cause Corey is singing on it, then when he bails to do either SK or SS, then Anthrax will be trying to rebuild themselves AGAIN. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is what I see. I just don't see him leaving SS at all, and SK will be around for at least a few more years (if not more).

I miss John too but here's your prize for bashing Joey :puke: :puke:

Hey everyone,

Obviously this is huge news! We've got a good discussion thread started over at MetalSucks.net that we'd love for you all to be a part of. As you know we're big John Bush supporters over there... but I think this is actually a pretty cool announcement. Come let us know what you think.

While I personally don't think that Corey is the best fit for Anthrax - I can't see him doing Joey-era material myself - I am willing to give him a chance to prove how he fits with the guys and how it all sounds, both on CD and on tour.

Kind of my thoughts.

Threads like this makes me feel like a mellow person. Sure, I´ll miss John (and Joey too) but I just can´t go apeshit or bitch. Just curious to see where it leads.

Now if you excuse me, I´m off to the Killing Joke-forum where I´ll demand that they kick out Raven and whatever drummer they have now and bring back the trüe line-up with Big Paul and Youth.

I love this band, but I'm starting to lean towards a name change if they can't get JB back. I was under the impression they're going to need a new record deal with Sanctuary going under so maybe a clean slate could help them avoid more label headaches.

It's going to be an interesting month to say the least...

I knew it, as soon as this became "official", everyone would start in with the "Billy was right" crap. Don't forget that Corey Taylor was Billy Milano's S E C O N D prediction!!!
