It's Rose Bowl time, bitches

see, he's not just a black quarterback who runs. he also completes like 60% of his passes. and he's big. big and fast, and tall enough to see over his offensive linemen. I'm not saying he will be a man amongst boys like he is in college, but he has all the fucking tools.

draft predictions:

Reggie Bush - 1
Vince Young - 2
Matt "Waaahmbulance" Leinert -3

Yes, he does have all the tools. At the college level. Did you see who Texas played this year? He damn well better have completed 60+% of his passes.

And dude, if you think Young is being drafted higher than Leinart, please send me some of what you're smoking. That's the funniest thing I've read in a few days now!

I'd say Leinert is more apt to be mediocre than Young in the NFL. The graveyard of Heismann NFL disappointments is not small…and who you play in college doesn't seem necessarily to matter when it comes to quarterbacks…look at Ben Roethlischeeseburger. Now imagine a Roethlisberger who can run and is of a duskier hue, and you've got Young.

liz, I don't know if you watch much football outside of New England, or have really even paid any attention to college ball over the past few years, but you're waaaaaaay off in thinking Leinart is going to be mediocre. I mean, c'mon dude. He's the PROTOTYPICAL NFL QB: tall, white, accurate, powerful arm. 'nuff said.

Daunte Culpepper is bigger than Young, btw, and look at where all his skills have got him thus far.

are you drunk?? New England has no Div I football power except for occasionally Boston College. (Although a minor aside, my alma mater, UNH, did get into the Div I-AA playoffs this year).:tickled:

I get much more exposure to the Big Ten out here in OSUland*. I would hasten to point out that the Buckeyes were the highest rated 2 loss team in the nation, and only narrowly got beat by Texas.

Watch an occasional SEC game...to me they're really the best conference in the nation.

edit: Daunte Culpepper is hindered by his complete and total lack of a brain.

*disclaimer: I hate the fucking buckeyes and Tressel and his fucking sweater vests.

1) I meant do you watch football outside of the Patriots (i.e. NE), and/or do you watch college football. Not college football in NE, lol
2) The Big Ten blows
3) The SEC is by far the best conference in the country
4) Leinart >>>>> Vince Young ;)

I don't have anything but basic cable so I watch whatever the networks are serving up, which is way too many Browns games LOL god do they suck.

The Big Ten should really be called the Big Two and Sometimes One or Two Others. Half the conference (IL, Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana) are usually total shit.

Next year, though...OSU travels to play the Longhorns. Should be fun.

and Leinart reads the blitz really well.

Young can run, but not like the speedsters in the NFL (vick)
70% of the linebackers are faster than he is and they will destroy him if he thinks he can "juke" them.
He does have a strong arm though, and seems to be accurate. It all depends on if he can change to the "NFL style"

Did you see the rushing TD (I think his 1st one) that Young had? 14 yard scamper, lowered his shoulder at the 3 yd line and just plowed through a USC defensive back. I'd *love* to see him try that against an NFL safety.

and an NFL coach will shit his pants if he trys that stuff because the risk of getting seriously injured.

I guess time will tell.

the guy is a junior...he'll be bigger and stronger in another year. and yes, the NFL will most likely try to make him focus way more on passing, but that isn't going to be difficult for him because he's already good at it...but every quarterback has to run sometimes and he'll have no problem.

consider...against a premium college defense....over 400 total yards...and they were keying on him.

you know what kind of college quarterbacks fail most in the NFL?? The so-called sure picks like Leinert. Anyone remember Rick Mirer??

For every Rick Mirer (fuck Notre Dame), there are multiple Tom Bradys, Peyton Mannings, Eli Mannings, etc.

The NFL is suited for the tall, pocket passer with good arm strength & the ability to read defenses, period.
