5 days prior to Saturday, everything was fine. For some reason, I did a quick roof check on Saturday, and found this:

You did the humane thing by catching and releasing the raccoons the first time. They may have come back, or this may be a new one. Either way, I think you're justified in permanently removing one more pest from the world.
