Jessi Slaughter... THE CONSEQUENCES WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

i'm calling BS on that one... the media deosn't have shit to do with how much time an 11 year old girl spends on the internet.... unless you mean Social Media... but you don't.

i'm pretty sick of the automatic US bashing as well, no matter what it's directed at. the UK media is absolutely fucked too, for that matter... but you don't hear Americans constantly referencing that fact.

no, the case of this 11 year old girl is a case of poor parenting, exacerbated by the erosion of good social etiquette in the internet age.... people that are hooked on the internet, and use it as a surrogate for actual human interaction, rapidly lose their social skills in my opinion. we see it here on this forum all the time, people spouting off "violently" to others with anonymous text, saying things they'd never dare to say if they were actually in a room with the same people.

Not sure where the misunderstanding is. It's obvious that the role the entertainment industry, media outlets, magazines, tabloids etc. play in the role of shaping the world-view of young teens is significant. Now more than ever, with the social globalization that the internet has created, parents need to be more vigilant about what their kids are doing. If you let them get raised solely by the TV and internet, you're going to get one fucked up offspring - it should go without saying.

This chick is probably a prime example, and if we lived in a more reasonable world, she would be the catalyst for a huge movement to take back popular culture from the mongoloids, but alas, it'll keep happening to other teens, and parents everywhere will continue scratching their heads saying 'hurrr durrrrr, why did this happen to her, she never did anything, deeerrrrpppp'.

Ok done with this thread, cause Im not dealing with this Anti-America bullshit anymore ....

While I can see why everybody absolutely hates our guts, I also agree that this is getting pretty annoying. It seems to be the quicker, easier solution/mindset alot of us on this board have, today. Someone fucks up/stuff gets out of hand? DAMN USA AND THEIR ________________

i can see reasons for everyone in the world to hate everyone else's nation's "guts", as you put it.... but the only country it's (apparently) PC to bash is the US. just shut the fuck up, your country is SHIT too. all of you.

:err:

The gap between parenthood and new media is existent throughout the world and highly correlating with social status. The internet obscures boarders, divergence of information is high. This is by no means an "American problem", but rather down to demographic changes and socio-cultural structures THROUGHOUT the "western world".

Kids are ahead of their parents because they didn't grow up with an ubiquitous internet. This will change with the coming generations.

I'm just going to go ahead and blame the Dam Christians. That's why America is so fucked up. The 11 year old most likely has Christians parents. :flame:

Poor parenting, and the whole "well shes in the house so she must be safe" mentality that too many parents are taking on today is to blame for this. Parents really need to monitor the shit their kids do on the internet.

With the way the internet is nowadays I honestly think that the kids are safer outside of the house. They can get exposed to far more shit online now than if they were just playin in the front yard with a few of the neighbors.

Shit just the other day I walked in on my godson watchin some faces of death shit online...the kids fuckin FOUR YEARS OLD. I was like wtf are you doing and how did you even figure out how to do that.

Ok, the last few posts have summed it up for me. I didn't mean to make a DIRECT dig at the US and their media corporations because I know its the same throughout the Western world. It was simply the fact this girl is American and to me, the US media seems to force things onto people more blatantly...

BUY THIS! EAT THAT! HOLY SHIT 1043921547U382HWJF DIED TODAY! DONT LEAVE YOUR HOUSE THERE IS TERRORISTS ON THE LOOSE! JUST WATCH THIS SHOW AND DONT PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT'S REALLY HAPPENING!

Dam TV. Every time I walk pass someone watching TV they are playing the same commercials they did ten plus years ago. I just can't watch that shit. Movies for the win.

.. and what starts out as sensible reply ends as just more of the same crap as before... mindless US bashing.

thanks for clarifying your position.

:err:

i've spent months at a time in the UK, multiple times, by the way. i've watched UK TV... read UK newspapers... shopped in UK grocery stores... etc etc. i like the UK, but i don't see a much of a better track record going on there in terms of media saturation.

I'd agree with James.

I don't have much experience under my belt, but for what it's worth, the US, Canada and parts of Europe I've been in have all been pretty much the same media-wise (censorship aside : much more in America than in Europe), except for a few more "alarmist" US stations like FOX, which doesn't mean everybody listens to or trusts them.

You CAN *somewhat* bash the US for those reasons. The same ones you could probably bash your country for. And mine, and most of the "modern occidental world".

Guys, Like I said, I'm not trying to aim all my "bashing" towards the US. I know its the same all over the world. The UK sucks for it also, but as P-E said, there is much more in America than Europe especially with such channels as FOX. I was in no way implying YOU guys, or every single American takes in all this bull shit they force feed us. This thread was about Jessi Slaughter and from interviews I've watched with her parents and herself, it seems like they have been manipulated by all this shit for a long time. Letting they're child sit on the internet, in her room, with unlimited access and no monitoring is the main example.

In pop music, films, tv, cartoons etc they make kids think its right to be popular, its right to have 100s of friends, its acceptable and cool to sleep with people and have no real morals, its cool to use language which will offend people and applying tons of make up and playing with your hair every two minutes will make you beautiful. It's what "they" want. Not just in the US, all over the world. I brain washed society, incapable of critical thinking.

Like I've said, this is not a rant directly aimed at the United States, it's just people like her that give the country a bad name. But there is people like that all over the world in every single country, city, town and village, she just made it public and fucked with the internetz.
