Joey (really) singing Only

To me Metallica didn't 'grow up' they SOLD OUT. I really truly believe Metallica is one of the biggest sell outs in metal music history. Of course this will always be a life long debate among metal fans. Megadeth to me really never were that big of a deal in the first place. I loved Peace Sells and Rust In Peace. But after that I just didn't really follow them much. I think they attempted to capitalize on Metallicas sell out success with the black album when they released Countdown to Extinction and even further went down that road with that pice of crap album 'risk'. But at least the last record is good.

None the less I really don't think Anthrax 'Grew Up' I think they just went different direction awith the grunge trend and were scared to continue on as a Thrash band. When they were doing the Stomp album metal music was all but dead. Anthrax conformed a bit but still had some edge to them. Other bands like Pantera kept playing heavy ass metal music and were able to survive the tough mid 90's and keep metal music alive. You certainly couldn't say that about Anthrax.

I am confident the new album will blow all of the Joey doubters away. Don't ever doubt Joey. He is a professional and is fully aware of what year it is.

I am just hoping the rest of the band goes balls out and doesn't try to hold back anymore.

I've never liked Metallica, so I don't have an opinion on whether they sold out or not. To me their music has always been boring.

Megadeth went for a more commercial sound in the 90's, Risk being the step too far. But to me Megadeth has always been most importantly about great musicianship, and that never went away. Endgame is awesome, too.

To me Stomp is Anthrax's attempt at being Pantera. Good album, but tends to get a bit repetitive.

The problem is that when Pantera became HUGE, Anthrax was already an "old" band. To me it feels like natural progression from POT to SOWN to Stomp.

I've never doubted Joey, by the way. I'm really excited about the next record. Anthrax is usually so much more FUN when Joey is around. I like that.

Joey Sucked On ALL era's, He used to be good, but he looks and sounds aweful up there now. please don't let him embarrass himself anymore and leave him in the 80's where i have good memories of him.
Anyone who is hanging on to joey, must still be rockn a ride the lighting shirt, cutoff blue jean shorts and a mullet if they still have hair, acting like a internet toughguy from there moms basement.

I'll kick your fucking ass, boy!

Said the dude with his fresh emo cut, black wardrobe, pownin' rockband, ...... and acting like a tough guy, from his moms basement.

:err: Yeah whatever you say. I'm not gonna feel any less an Anthrax fan just because I'm not an old fart like you. Too bad that you're stuck in the 80's, but it's not our fault.:D

Thanks Darrell.

I was around in the 80s and had all the Anthrax albums (including "Fistful"). I just think they made a great step forward with John, and now it's all gone. So be it. The run with John was great and now it's time to see a quasi-retro 80s band try (for the umpteenth time) to redo themselves. I give it a year, before Joey "Flakes out" (Scotts words from some time ago) or Scott quits to focus on Damnocry, Poker or Pearl!

If you were an original Anthrax fan and can't stand the Joey era albums.... well wait you weren't a fan so nevermind

Does anyone really think the albums made with John Bush were better than the albums made with Joey? Not just talking vocally but musically? Give me a break.

I like both eras, and I'm kind of hoping that the next album will be a sort of fusion. A "best of both worlds" kinda thing.

By the way, I fully understand why people have preferences for one singer over the other seeing that the two have very different voices. However, I'm struggling to understand the complete dissmissal of Joey's talents that occur in some of the posts here. I find it a bit unfair towards the guy to be honest, considering his previous efforts and his will to participate in pushing the band forward in 2010.

I honestly think that SOWN and WCFYA are as good as anything they've done.

I agree.

Oh...and the term "fan" is commonly considered to derive from the word "fanatic", defined as "marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion".

Judging by some of the opinons expressed on this message board, there are very few true fans around. Myself included :)
(Provided that one accepts the definition, of course.)

I don't, but some guys apparently do. So fucking what?

I honestly think some of these people on the forum either are friends with John Bush, or have some other motive for bagging on Joey. Whether they like it or not the voice of Anthrax will always be known for Joey Belledonna. He has done absolutely nothing but give 100 percent to Anthrax. He never quit the band or refused to come sing for them. He made arguably 4 of the best consecutive Thrash albums of all time.

If you can deny Among The Living, Spreading The Disease, State Of Euphoria and Persistence of Time (Not to mention attack of the Killer B's) etc as not being some of the best Thrash albums of all time you honestly don't deserve to call yourself an "Anthrax Fan". Sure there were some good songs during the John Bush era. But the over all consistency was lacking. Stomp and Volume 8 are borderline terrible. SOWN and WCFYA are good albums, written well etc. But they don't touch the classic era albums and will never go down as defining Anthrax albums. The worst Anthrax album with Joey was State of Euphoria but there are classic songs on that album that make up for the bad ones. Be All End All makes up for any bad songs on that album. But the songs are NOT bad because of the vocals. And even on the John Bush era albums the songs weren't bad because of the vocals per-Se it was the music behind them.

That does seem odd, considering Bush walked away from Anthrax. Why aren't they bitching on the official John Bush board? The band has made their decision. Joey is in and a new album is being written WITH Joey's input. No amount of griping is going to change that.

Eh? I must have missed the last ten years or so, where Anthrax shafted John's bush, then hoped he'd forget all about it and come back to save them.
That's business. Again, they never canned Bush; he left of his own volition. You don't see Rob walking away like a prima donna.
