Firstly a big thank you to for everyone who has contributed to this thread, there is a lot of great information here. I have a question relating to guitars. I am running an OK guitar through a DI - Valve Pre - AD/DA converter - POD Farm. I have found it relatively easy to tame the 'fizz' by pulling numerous harsh frequencies with a very narrow quotient. The guitar is tuned to drop C and has been set up professionally.
My issue is with the low end of the guitar, I have used a HPF and cut everything below 100Hz. I then pulled 130Hz out (a lot) again with a narrow Q. I then cut a bit of 220. Further more I have used a low shelf and taken a further 3dB off everything below 250Hz. This seems to produce a reasonable sounding result (For this particular guitar) - the tone is close a professional standard but still lacks the fidelity and clarity of say AA or TDWP (Not trying to imitate them, but using them as a standard in quality).
It seems to sound reasonable at this stage but is it atypical to have to remove so much low end when using pod farm? Or is this perhaps an issue with my levels/mix or quality of instrument?
