Joey Sticks To Only Cali?

the "awesomeness from elsewhere" i was referring too is the post processing on the amp tone

which i have never truly told anyone exactly what all it is.

occasionally you'll talk about using 'frequency enhancements'. would you mind explaining what those are and the application of them?

One thing I just remembered that I used to do is theres the api modeled preamp in podfarm. Theres like a weird glitch in the volume knob so you have to turn it up then down and it works normal....or maybe it was the gain knob....hmmmmmm either or put that on the guitar master bus and you can do some rad stuff with it.

Oh my bad. In any case, I wouldn't really care for your post processing techs because they are for you and work for you. I prefer just limiting my guitars and highpassing them...a lot. I wanted to know if you used something else on Pod Farm, seeing how there are lots of amps on there. I'm telling ya, that Angel P-Ball, it's bawlzy. That's what I use for the heavy bands, and the Cali for bands who want to sound like one of your productions and the Deity Lead..............for leads.

just putting it out there-

i get WAY closer to the 'sturgis' sound using the plexi varic'd than the cali diamond plate. guitar hacks impulses go a long way too.

Not a lot of people can afford/have the provisions for an amp and mic setup. That said, if you can afford any model of axefx, an amp and mic setup really shouldn't be a problem...

That's what I don't get.. Why not just pay the extra 300 bucks or whatever for a decent tube amp? Axefx are expensive as fuck, last time I checked.

Honestly, I prefer paying 300$ less and having 10 times more choices. Maybe it gets "only" 90% close to the real deal, but it gives me a variety of sounds that I wouldn't have with one real amp. That 90% is enough most of the time!

I personally prefer real amps, because I have WAY more variety in how I want to capture the sound coming from the cabinet. And that tone is 100% real :D And getting a 5150 combo is actually the same price as getting the latest "best" version of POD.

6505 1x12" combo: 495€

Oh well. At the end it's still a matter of preference. The only micing result that actually improved my tone / bring life into my mix was when I miced a 6505+ through a Vader cab, trying to go for a "Whitechapel"-like tone. Maybe I'm just too noobish to mic real amps too...

I prefer Pod Farm. Don't get me wrong, I love real amps. But in my case, I can't be that loud because I live in an apartment. If I was to use real amps, I'd never get that nice warm tube sound because the level would be so low. And forget headphones, I can at least be decently loud, but not enough to get the guitar sound I'm looking for. And as Folkrav said, I like all the selections. And in the end, an average listener would never tell the difference, at least none of them around here do.
