Just got a new car

ferrari f458 italia will go for 180000 euro ($ 264,045.76)

Dam thats a lot. :erk:

I was thinking about adding something like that to the business. (transportation, limos, cars, ect)

Just doesn't seem worth it. I would drive the thing once and then have to hire someone to drive it for me. Insurance would kill me alone. Fuck that.

I'll wait till I'm a multi millionaire. :waah:

Yeah, admittedly the Solstice is pretty sweet, as is the G8 (meaning, Holden Commodore :goggly: ), I just can't get over the legions of atrocious Grand Ams and Grand Prix's they've cranked out for so long :ill: (but now they're dead, so time to pay the piper I suppose! :D) Imports all the way for me, though!

And for a relatively cheap sports car, I'd so much rather have a 370Z or S2000 :notworthy

Does look ok but I don't think anyone would rent a cheap car. Also it would look kinda funny sitting next to BMW's and 180k limo's.

It's cool man, I don't really need another car right now. Just toying with the idea.

Hyundai is definitely South Korean, Owen :D And for the size of it (and the fact that it's not diesel), I'd say that's pretty good!

But yes, compared to a diesel, it is atrocious (and deeply suspect  )

Yeah, well cars made for the American market then if you want to be pedantic ;), since yknow, car types differ per continent and all that, even if Hyundai is a South Korean company.

What size is the car exactly then? Cos I've seen petrol people carriers over here that can do 40mpg. :u-huh:

Probably because they're diesels ;) (which sadly the American public still regards as smog-belchers fit only for trucks, thus they really haven't caught on here)

Oh wait, skipped right over the "petrol people carriers" part - if that is true, I guess maybe they're just hideously underpowered or a just lot smaller, because I really can't see how that's possible! And the Santa Fe (the car in question here) is basically a small crossover SUV

Nope, Vauxhall Zafira petrol will do 40. Stick mind, as far as I'm aware that puts a few mpgs up.

And yeah, learning to drive in America must be amazingly easy, all those automatic cars and straight roads.

Cars in Europe on average get better mileage/gallon but it's also important to remember that you guys calculate MPG very differently.

For example the A3 2.0 TDI in the UK claims 40/67 mpg while the US one is rated at 30/42 mpg.

Nothing wrong with Diesels over this side of the Pond, I can easily get 55 mpg :D and Owen is dead on, 40 is managable on a petrol Zafira alright, and the Zafira is big enough for a pile of gear too

Ok, with yah, UK gallon is bigger than the US gallon. :u-huh:

Still doesnt stack up though because UK Gallon = American Gallon x 1.2.

So 42x1.2 = 50 =/= 67.

Right b/c we are calculating them differently, and the US EPA is actually more stringent.
The EPA estimates here are very conservative and I've never failed to beat them in my mazda driving like a maniac.

Another example, the prius here claims 50 combined and it's 72 combined in the Uk. Again 50(1.2)= 60 =/=72.

It's a big country, there are plenty of curvy roads and manual cars to be had :) And as a former car nut, I got curious, so I did some looking about the Zafira - it seems like it can be had with like 7 fucking different engines (talk about selection), however, this review paints it in a rather positive light; that 0-62 time is pretty woeful but it's not as bad as I expected, though while they don't list a unit of measure for the weight (2,095), I'm guessing it's pounds, which makes it absurdly light, cuz even a little Kia Rio is ~2,365 lbs., and can only pull ~30 MPG with a 110 hp engine, which I guess sounds about right. God knows the sacrifices in stability and sound deadening Vauxhall made to the Zafira to get it that light, but if it's not noticeable when driving, then a) that's all that matters and b) they should be awarded a freakin' Nobel!

And yeah, the processes used to calculate fuel mileage vary WILDLY

Hahahaha, that makes two of us Egan, it's probably just extreme (and unrealistic) pussyfooting testing methods giving those results (72 for any car in a real-world environment is genuinely laughable). What Mazda do you have? (Protege5 here  )
