I'm just recording this band using the AxeFX....and I hate to say it, but it slays!
it sounds soooo much better than any other modeller etc....REALLY awesome...
well, on muted chords (especially on semi open(boomy breakdown thingies) you can still hear a difference (a miced amp is pushing more air and punching more chest), but overall the AF sounds really close to an amp and it definitely sounds really good.

I really hate to say that, but if I had the 1200$ I'd probably buy it.
then again...I still prefer real amps.....but it's awesome for tracking DIs and I'd probably also use it for most of the clean stuff and some leads etc

Now we gotta get Sturgis to jump on the Axe Fx.

don't think that's gonna happen, the AxeFX really sounds like an amp.
the POD doesn't.

(not a this-is-better-than-that statement, just saying that Joey's style is not really featuring amptones, but PODtones....so I doubt something that sounds like a real amp will really do anything for him)

You didn't try hooking it up to a cab? or compare against a head with impulses? The impulse part of the axe-fx is its weakest part atm imo. Or is it the impulses that are crappy? The Redwirez impulses seems to get really good response, I have to try those.
