Kamelot.....quick thoughts...

I'm hoping for "Eden Echo" and "Karma" tomorrow night.
Ask and ye shall receive! Tonight's show was definitely better than Wednesday night (and Wednesday was awesome)...sure, I'd love to see some deep cuts from their back catalog, but they're playing for 45 minutes. Tonight's setlist was a great blend of old and new, and watching Tommy sing "Eden Echo" again was amazing.

Amazing the difference a new vocalist can make to a band. Never a big fan of Kamelot as I could never stand Roy's stage presence (much like he was in a broadway musical of a soap opera) ;-). Seeing them with Tommy demonstrated what an incredible band and music they have.

They did amazing ,I loved every min. of the show !!! I only heard Tommy mistake one lyrics in the song Soul Society the first pre chours breakdown. the line is "human reason counters all", but he said the second one first and the first one second "all for one and one for all". he just did them backwards but it didn't matter and it was an all out amazing show. this might be poorly written sorry

Show was fun, liked Kamelot more than Nightwish. Only complaint was the girl in the corset, thought they should have gotten a better growler for the harsh vocals, she was pretty bad.

You're saying Alissa White Gluz was bad? You do realize she's the same person who does growls on the new song right?

Then again, I know her style is not for everyone...

I thought it was a great show, just wish it was longer. As far as the set goes... Yeah, I agree I'd rather hear some older songs, stuff less played, but this is this first run through the states with Tommy as their official vocalist and with only 45 minutes I'm not surprised they're sticking with the standard live songs to win over any fans still on the fence about the loss of Khan. Hopefully next time around they'll experiment a bit more.
Agreed. I enjoyed both shows thoroughly, though it will be nice if they mix it up next time around. I absolutely loved Tommy's vocals and was glad to hear his sound so strong the second night when he was slightly under the weather. Guess the tea helped some. ;)

I saw them with Khan on three occasions, one with Michael Eriksen, one with Fabio, and now two with Tommy thanks to the Back-to-Back nights. I loved Khan on CD, and am a big fan, but the times I heard him he struggled to perform the songs live. Perhaps I was just unlucky each time - I do know that one of the nights was the last night of their tour and his voice could have been weary from the road, and so I concede that point. Michael did an stellar job filling in at ProgPower with very short notice, and Fabio did really well on the Poetry for the Poisoned tour - no complaints at all for either of them. That said, Tommy just brought it to a whole new level with these performances on Wednesday and Thursday. The man is a consummate professional and has one of THE BEST voices in music today! I'm very happy with what I heard and can't wait to hear the whole Silverthorn album on Oct. 30!

Loved it, Tommy was a great fit....they should just go higher with him. Really surprised how much he can sound like Khan instead of what I'm used to hearing him do with Seventh Wonder. I'm curious if the new record will be similar....?

I have to go withe the consensus here: Kamelot rocked both nights! Tommy Karevik sounded incredible. He completely put my doubts to rest. In addition, I think that Thomas Youngblood gets better every time I see him.

That said, I also would have liked to see some more variation in the setlists. I understand that they were the opening act on this bill, but they have more than enough material to make each night's set completely different. The fact that they pretty much ignore their first four albums entirely makes me rather sad. Hopefully, that will change in the near future.

On a side note (for Cheiron), I think that Kamelot with Khan was Kamelot version 2. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing the recorded version 3!

Stay metal. Never rust.

I've been hoping that for 6 years now. Simply put, the new music and image make them more money than the old ones did, so I don't think it's going to happen.

Other than that, Tommy sounded great. I wish they'd give him a little more space to be himself; he really seems to be trying to sound/look/act like Roy a little too much up there.

@ pack1fan4life - Only Wed Night ? ... the sound was insulting to Kamelot on Thurs too.

I was near the sound booth and I could hear the STAGE VOLUME of the drums, kick and snare. That is unacceptable and a slap in the face for a world class band such as Kamelot.

Guitars were lost at times and vocals were getting squashed by a compressor or something.

I know that it's a soundman industry secret to keep the opening bands -6dB lower than the headliner so the headliner is " more imressive" , but dang it, Kamelot IS a headliner and I bought a ticket to the show, I took time off work, I had an extra night at a hotel to see them.

I struggled to enjoy the experience that Kamelot and Tommy brought, because it was truely an experience to see one of my favorite bands. I fought through it, but it was hard not to go to the sound booth and chew out the soundman.

Completely Insulting.
