Katatonia amps!

What settings do you use with your Boss Gt-3 to have THE Katatonia sound? For rhythm and lead guitars?

My equipment is:

Marshall JCM 900
Boss Gt-3
Epiphone guitars
I have an Epiphone as well :Smug:
I couldn't say for the settings cos I use seperate Boos pedals and not the GT-3 combo.
I'm planning to throw my fucking Epiphone pick-ups out of my guitar though :) and replace it with Seymour Duncans or EMG's. I think you should do something similar, as Epiphone pick-ups are eh... crappy.

EMG 81's. I put 2 in my Jackson Randy Rhoads and haven't looked back since :)

Man.. Many Many metal bands don't use pedals. There are multichannel amps, which you switch between a footpedal.. Every channel is a separate preamp. In a two-channel amp they are often a clean channel and a distorted channel.

nothing to add. Hybreed is totally right :D

No, the EMG's are awesome. I've been using them since '98 and they kick major ass. Stick 2 EMG 81's in your Epiphone and you'll be in heaven. They have a good smooth sound but when you want to blast out Metallica, Slayer or whoever else they sound wicked.

I think Metallica used them from Ride THe Lightning onwards but I'm not 100% sure. I used to know but... I know they still use them, once they started they never used anything else. So from the mid 80's til now. They also give you a rich smooth tone for songs like "Right Into The Bliss". I guess you'd just have to test them for yourself though, or read some reviews. But they have me completely sold, that's all I can say :)

I really personally dont like the EMG 81's. They're only good for metal, you try to cool them down a bit for some texture & they blow. Way to much migh end in them, reall its high mids that are boosted in them, but same difference.
Most bands use amp distortion except, Opeth, Katatonia, Tiamat & I believe Cradle of Shit.
