Kelly Inn St. Paul Roll Call and Role Call

Yeah, I already checked that, I just hate transfers, which are required in the route to be taken.

A transfer isn't required (well, unless you're a total wuss!) Just take the #54 bus (http://www.metrotransit.org/images/routes/054.pdf) to the 5th St. and W 7th St. stop, and it's like a half-mile walk from there. All for $1.50.

The weird thing is the location of the "official" hotel; I don't understand why it's over a mile from the venue. I just got a room at the Crowne Plaza Riverfront, which is only a few blocks from the venue, a block from the bus route, and $49/night (through Hotwire, admittedly, but the normal price is the same as the Best Western's normal price).

And as a final bonus, I apparently won't have all you drunk bastards keeping me from my beauty sleep there! :D

Noted for next year if it's at the same venue. Thanks for the info!

Grrrr.... at least we have a shuttle. :heh: But yeah, that is a bit strange. Perhaps the promoters couldn't negotiate a discount festival rate for everyone at that place as they have to set the bands up and everything, and I'm sure you can't book that many rooms in bulk through Hotwire, Priceline, etc.

Well, if that's a bonus for you, it's not for us because your presence would indeed be more than welcome. Seriously Neil, glad you're going and you're welcome to hang any night you choose. At the very least, maybe we can hoist a few at the fest and I can get the latest info on Jon Schaffer's daily meals, toilet habits and the rest of the stuff that you're always privy to yet won't share on the main website, LOL. :kickass:

True. We could not.

Holy shit

Yeah, you can often find incredible individual deals through Priceline, Hotwire, etc, but more often than not, unless you pay the published rates, you don't know for absolute certainty where you're going to be staying. If you want to be sure you stay at the same hotel everyone else is crashing at, then yeah, you just have to look for the best deal at that particular place.

For example, at Progpower VI, I booked 4 nights at the Sheraton for $50 a night (I didn't know in advance it would be the Sheraton) by putting in a $50 bid for mid-town Atlanta on Priceline, but was several blocks away from the action so I had to often walk in intense 95 degree heat back and forth. It's often a give and take thing. But in Neil's case, that's pretty much a no brainer unless he wanted to be at the headquarters.

1 week, and I am finally all booked... but I totally got fucked in booking. I marked a 6:30pm leave on sunday, and of course, they give me an email today saying that the flight got overbooked, so I am now booked for a motherfucking 6:30am flight.

All nighters are fuckin metal!

Seriously dude, that's why you don't wait 'til the last minute - plus, the prices tend to go up as the date gets closer and closer.

Actually, it was cheaper then before... but the nice price now comes with the cost of having to get my ass outta the hotel a little after 4am...
