And I'm pretty sure Beneath The Remains was a JCM800 with a sonic maximizer.

That would be swedish death metal using boss HM-2's, putting all the knobs on full does NOT give you that sound though.

Not sure what you're doing wrong, my HM2 in front of pretty much any amp gets at least the main characteristics of Swede toan.

You got the 5150, but the Transtube Supreme is different than the Supreme 160. The 160 has a green stripe and pretty ugly 80s looking shell, while the Transtube Supreme is all black and 100w! They're probably similar amps but the Transtube has "tube dynamics" knobs I think...

Dan once mentioned one guitarist had a swedish hm-2 sound and the other one had an american sound. Can't remember more infos.
But there's surely hm-2 honk in there on that album
I'm sure you could ask him. If he remembers he will tell you.
