Lead guitarist in ma band (River Dragon Solo)

Consider this constructive criticism for your friend.

1. What is the point of uploading a video of you playing a piece at 2/3rds the speed? Get it up to the right speed and then show it off.

2. Wtf @ the tone... seriously... you can't get a tone that bad no matter how shitty your amp is.

3. The first half of the solo is decent accuracy-wise, a couple of notes are off but generally he hit the majority of them.

4. The second half is, frankly, horrible. Lots of mistakes, ZERO expression/emotion, and it is obvious he needs to practice his runs.

That is all.

....wtf its the same tempo as the album jackass. :erk: (the fact that you can't even identify the original tempo of a song kinda throws the rest of yoru criticism out the door)

You obviously have never played a peavey bandit 1x10. the knobs don't do much.

Consider that he just learns these solos to better his own playing/technique when playing along with a powertab of a song there isn't much room for "expression/emotion" everytime I hear someone say "he has no expression" it's apparent to me that you guys talk out of your ass alot and it makes me fart witha little wetness, because Its obvious he doesn't give a shit about being expressive with somebody else's solo..its just a technique exercise. And he uploades them out of boredom.

if you want to point out criticisms and be constructive I suggest you give hints on fingering technique, phrasing and picking technique....otherwise you just come off like some pompous idiot.

*sigh*

UM used to be good forums. Guess not anymore.

EDIT: I would, however, like to elaborate.

Why was this video posted? To be criticised, right? If not, the only other possibility is that he posted it to show off, and that would be just lame, so im going to assume that he isnt that lame. So why don't you stop defending this guy as if I'm trying to steal his girlfriend and just accept my criticism and maybe he will want to use it to his benefit.

The tempo IS slower. Just play the video simultaneously with the song and you will see for yourself.

No, I have never played a Peavey Bandit, the tone still sucks but fair enough. Maybe the guy is poor and can't afford a halfway decent amp. I just hope he doesn't have a huge Marshall stack in his other room and just couldnt be fucked to record there.

There isn't much room for expression? He doesn't even care? It's just technique? The guy should just give up the guitar now cause with that mentality he is not getting anywhere.

He's uploading videos cause he's bored? So what? He will still get criticised. Reacting like you did just shows that you have no idea what constructive criticism is and are probably too dumb to understand it anyway.

Finally, if you think I come off as a pompous idiot, all power to you. Do you know how you come off? Like a 15 year old kid who is a fanboy of his own friend. Get real, kid.

Not bad at all, but he is right, the tempo is slower. Not much, but you can notice it. I guess it was slowed down so he could play it CLEANLY. I'll rather listen to this than some sloppy version played at the actual tempo.

So let's hear your guitar skills.

lol @ having a full stack in a dorm room.....that's somethign my brother would do.

He has a peavey 5150..but problem..he's in Washington, amp is in Montana...kinda hard to record with it. You'll hear decent tone in due time.

its actually fine..if you don't like how he played it...whatever. its just how you put things.

just sounds like you're in a bad mood and wanted to rip on somebody elses hard work.

tbqh.

Hahah. Typical reply, it's ok, I expected it. I am currently not at home so all I have is my acoustic... I have no problem recording some acoustic playing if you're interested but I primarily play lead electric guitar. I won't have access to my electric for another 3 weeks.

Let me know if you want to hear some acoustic stuff.
