Let's see if this has any influence: What 45min-1hr set do YOU want to see?

The subject says it all... I don't know if it will have much, if any, influence over what the band plays in their setlist on the upcoming US tour with Symphony X, Powerglove, and Soilwork, but we can try, dammit.

Not in any real order...

Emptiness Unobstructed
The Blue Marble And The New Soul
Final Product
Create the Infinite
Insignificant
Death of Passion
No More Will
This Sacrament
Tiananamen Man
CBF
Heart Collector (time permitting)

I left In Memory out of my thing since I combined it with Politics. I think this would be a killer setlist that shows a proper span of the band's career, instead of just playing all new stuff, they can get a taste of everything. This set could work, especially since this tour is going to be directed at a more proggy/power crowd.

My two Euros.

That's actually a pretty near perfect setlist. I'd swap out The Blue Marble and the New Soul for She Comes in Colors, Death of Passion for Poison Godmachine and This Sacrament for Optimist of Pessimist.
The Learning/Sentient 6 are also fairly relevant to the progness.

The only reason I didn't include The Learning/Sentient 6 (they must be paired) is due to the length. That, in itself, would be over a quarter of the set. It would work on a headlining tour, but not when time severely limits the quantity of songs.

that's a pretty good set list
I'd like to see
Ambivalent
The Seven tongues of God
and Engines of Hate in there as well (propbably my 3 fav NM songs).

I think you are misunderstanding the point here. You have to include the length of the songs, followed by a wide variety of the music they make. You need to have everything from newer material to older material, and still have it all performed within a reasonable time limit. Will pretty much has it narrowed down.

I actually do not like that setlist, Will (just my taste).

I'd go with:

Born
Moonrise
Sanity Assassin
We Disintegrate
Blue Marble
Dreaming Neon Black
Tiananmen Man
Next in Line
Never Purify
Evolution 169
This Godless Endeavor

Time permitting encore: In Memory
----

If the band had this setlist I would follow them across Europe (or USA)

dnb is an amazing live song that would go over well with a proggy audience, I would somewhat counterintuitively say.

and born is such an aggressive song it simply must be played live and always as the show opener to get the crowed going. i hate when metal bands open with mid tempo shit. it completely ruins the energy and anticipation of the crowd.

If we're strictly looking at a 2nd to headline position time-frame, then yes, you're stuck with less then an hour (and with so big of a bill, more likely 45 or 50 min). Now when crafting something like this, and looking at the other bands, it would seem appropriate to keep the mellow tracks and ballads to a minimum. It's important to keep energy high on such a metal bill with such a short time to play. Also, since this is more of a dream set, I'd like to see them do songs that I didn't get at the last show I saw. Sure that's not realistic as many set-staples are getting cut..but oh well. Anyway, I'd dig:

7 Tongues of God
Narcosynthesis
Dreaming Neon Black
Moonrise
Matricide
What Tomorrow Knows
Psalm of Lydia
Seed Awakening
Dead Heart in a Dead World

*if there's time:

Emptiness Unobstructed
We Disintegrate

This bums me out for the fact that this will be the second time in a row that they are support (I caught the one show on the US run where a band played above them). It will be some time before I get to see them headline :(

Did you go to the Worcester show recently?
