Longest song?

FANTÔMAS - Surgical Sound Specimens From The Museum Of Skin (74:16)

its a concept album about being awake during surgery but unable to move.

Yeah this is definitely the longest track I've heard, but one could argue it isn't really a song, per se, & hell the last 20 minutes is just feedback.

Also for argument's sake, how is DT's Six Degrees any more of a "song" than SX's V? Both are single concepts, & they both have no breaks between tracks. Also V is longer. :p

I have LoD, DoD, and I do enjoy it, but to say that's it's better than Six Degrees makes me lol. LoD has some great moments, but so many of the riffs in the song (and drum beats) are basically the same (I know it's one song, but still). Sometimes, it seems like they were struggling to make the song long because a part will build up, then fade out... and then another part will do the same thing. Also, that section in the middle with the girl "singing" is rediculous. Once again, I actually do like the song; it's a fun listen, but it's really nothing too special.

I don't know how many of you can talk down Six Degrees. That song is pretty well done, imo, and quit emotional. One of my favourite songs, for sure.

That doesn't count though because it's a serious piece. Dragonforce's entire discography however is both comical, humorous, and sucks ass so therefore it's 100% completely valid to make fun of.....

Wait, that's not the point of this thread, is it?

Sdoit Has every emotion in the song, that is why it is one of the greatest songs ever:rock:

I always thought Six Degrees didn't sound like one song at all. It sounded like a bunch of songs with segues. A Change of Seasons is one song, Six Degrees sounds more like a series. It reminds me more of the "Mind Beside Itself" trilogy, and they didn't call that one song.

Which pisses me off, because I find parts of that song incredibly boring (Goodnight Kiss, anyone?)

No way! Sure the first part is a bit slow, but then it builds up and Petrucci does his amazing solo over a static bass line and thumping kick pedal... :notworthy

 anyway, generally when I watch concert dvds I like to watch the whole thing through anyway to give more of a 'being there' feeling...

^+1

I've decided that the longest song is actually a single chord played on my new guitar. It sustains forever. Literally, forever. You're lucky this landed in the hands of someone who respects it's power and doesn't abuse it to put john cage in his place.

Yeah, the solo is good, but LaBrie singing "I'm just a poor girl" creeps me out.

I wasn't a big fan of Score, anyway. There were a few good tunes, but the mostly Octavarium set bored me.
