Just list a bunch of stuff plz... I don't like the extremely brutal stuff... more the brutal stuff that mixes in with the slow piano/violins stuff.

I think I already did... brutallic black metal (i.e. I guess I'm saying black metal is "heavier" than death and has kind of different guitar sound style)... with mixed in slow "melodic" parts.

Hmm... sorry man kinda hard :Spin: ... I'm trying to get into the genre in general now, I'm a newb, so you unfortunately cant really rely on me :erk:

Progressive black metal? It certainly isn't the same kind of prog as in other subgenres...but:

Blut Aus Nord
Deathspell Omega (particularly the new one)
The Eye
Children of Maani
Hirilorn
Eikenskaden

do Agalloch and Woods of Ypres considered black metal??? Just wondering. I know black metal doesn't always need harsh vocals.

Stop calling Agalloch "gothic," you faghat?

Gothic music isn't limited to female singers and male singers who suck incredibly. The feeling in most Agalloch songs is similar to the feelings expressed by early My Dying Bride, which was definitely at least semi-Gothic in sound.

Ok, good. I was afraid you were going to call them doom, which hurts my feelings. Dark metal isn't a genre, more of a description of lyrical imagery and general feeling...but if "dark metal" was appropriate for any band, I'd say Agalloch fit the bill. We should co-operate more often. Maybe do a parody of Six Feet Under soon.

I don't know exactly what you are looking for. Also, most black metal isn't brutal. Anyways:

Mjolnir - Hinweg Uber die Tore der Zeit (very fast with good production and keyboards)
In Battle - Rage of the Northmen (brutal black metal with death metal overtones)
Nazgul (It) - De Expugatione Elfmuth (very fast with lots of orchestral keyboards)
Absu - Tara (fast brutal black metal, with melodic guitar riffs)
early Behemoth (good melodic, somewhat raw black metal)
Dub Buk (heavy riffs with good production and cool keyboards, not always very fast)
Oathean (well produced black metal with some death/thrash riffs and atmospheric keyboards)

Deinonychus as well.

Dark metal is a horrible term simply because it is so fawking broad. Neo-folk dark metal would fit the bill for Agalloch because of the "neo-folk" term thrown before it. lol  :Spin:
