My band is about to start recording our first album, and our choice of local studios is rather limited. Going abroad is unfeasible due to time constraints mainly (i.e. we all have jobs).
So, I was thinking of doing some of the recording ourselves (drums, guitar DIs, bass DI, vocal, keyboards), and having someone from this board reamp the guitars and then mix and master the whole thing. We do have a budget for it, but we're not exactly rich .
I have a M-Audio Profire 2626, a pair of Samson SDCs, a set of the crappiest Thomann mic set for drums (intended for replacement) and a SM57.
Anyway, here is one song, which would be indicative of what we can achieve.

Notes for the above files:
1. Drums are recorded on 7 channels: overheads, kick, snare, 3 toms. I have one spare channel but I'm not sure what would be best to record on it.
2. At least kick and snare must be replaced, they sound like ass.
3. The bass is also really crappy but I'll have a better one for the actual recordings (plus a real bass player, not me).
Here are 2 mixes I've done on this material: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/2155023/Soer280909.mp3, http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/2155023/Soer300909.mp3
If anyone is interested, please give a sample of what you can do with the above, and PM me with your rates and how much time you'd estimate you'd need for 10 or 11 tracks, with length from 4 to 7 minutes.
I'm also open to suggestions about improving the quality of the input material.
P.S. About the band: The band is called Sincarnate (http://www.myspace.com/Sincarnateband), and the style is death/doom-ish. I play the keyboards
