Get well soon Lopez, whether you stay in Opeth or not.

I kinda believe the rumors about him doing coke now.

Because that interview was pretty incomplete....
jesus! quit fucking speculating that he's a drug addict! the man, from what i've seen in pictures has always been slight of build, and the blood disorder thing seems very reasonable. besides, just about anyone can have panic attacks. i just hope he can get healthy soon and rejoin opeth if he wants, if not, we should all wish him well, it's been one fucking incredible ride!!!

That really blows for the band, and Lopez. If it's not drug related, which I'm thinking it has to be (due to the vagueness during interviews), then I hope he gets better. If it's drug related, I still hope he gets better, however he had to have known what he was getting into, IF it's drug related.

Why does everyone assume its drug-related? Because he is a musician?
That really grinds my gears

I don't believe(suprises me),people compare Axe and Lopez.

Lopez is more than a mere death metal drummer. I believe he is the best drummer in the
metal music industry. His contribution to Opeth is undiscussible. The people who think,
Axe will be able to replace his position, has ever paid attention his technique? he is neither
as fast as Lopez nor puts emotions into his playing the way Lopez does. He screws/messes up
all the slow parts. Don't forget this, Axe is just a regular metal drummer and he does his
job. Beating up the drum does not make a somebody better drummer.

I believe, Lopez is the most important person after Mikael Akerfeldt in Opeth. If Lopez
does not continue, it won't be as same as Anders leaving. The Metal world will lose the most
precious drummer.

I hope you may recover soon and return back!

By the way, I believe some people need to listen the albums after Morningrise had been release.
Especially Damnation and GR should be listen again.

yea I agree.. It may sound mean but I would rather Mendz or Peter to leave before Lopez

In all honesty, the mans health is more important than his drumming in Opeth will ever be. I say, take however long you need to take to get back to normal, and if he doesnt feel like joining Opeth again, that's fine, and I don't think anyone will blame him.

Thanks Martin, for (how many? - Since MAYH) years of the best drumming for the best fucking band on the planet.

I want Lopez to stay but if he cant, he cant...he needs to focus on his health and i do think Opeth can survive without him until hes better...in the meantime, Lopez must recover from whatever it is that ails him!
*much hugs to the Martin Lopez!*

While Lopez certainly is a huge part of Opeth's sound, you can't ignore that Lopez was a very different drummer before joining the band. I think Akerfeldt influenced him a lot, and whoever replaces him, even if it's Axenrot, the band will still play the same kind of music, and Akerfeldt will work with whoever drums in the studio to help the sound match the band.

"for drum parts %90 doing myself."
From Lemantation

i think some people need to stop being little fan boys. lopez is an incredible drummer and an important part of opeth but if he doesnt come back, its not over. do you think lopez was as good as he is now when he started with opeth? as someone else said, mikael says that they had to stop him from being so aggressive. and then someone complained about axe not being able to hit the softer parts? wtf? axe has probably learnt an absolute shitload just touring with opeth. no doubt hed be better now then when he did his first opeth show. give axe a go. it will be a tragedy if lopez leaves, but you never know how good axe could be. dont let all these fanboys on here fool you. martin axenrot is a superb drummer.

get better ML, we're thinking of you.

The only reason I'm starting to believe that it's drug related is that they've not shed any light on the subject other than his blood disorder/panic attacks and that he may or may not be coming back. I realize that we have no obligation to know anything that goes on inside the band, but usually bands will explain a bit of what's happening when things like this happens.

I'd rather Lopez was fit and healthy than sick and playing in Opeth. In truth we'd all like him to be fit and healthy and playing in Opeth, but that mightn't happen for a long time or at all.

Lopez, get well soon yea.

completely agreed

If you ask me I'd guess drugs too......after all this time to have such vague and hodgepodge explanation is way too wierd to ignore.

Easily my favorite drummer in the world, and saying that Axe or someone else (other than maybe Hoglan) can just step in and fill this guy's stool is pretty ridiculous. One of a kind.

if they needed a drum tech to handle the soft songs, then obviously hoglan wouldnt be that great a pick. He can handle the heavy stuff, but the softer stuff is not his strong point.
