Anyone out here with a trained ear?

Lets get those lyrics together. This is what I understood so far

The ones in italics are what I hear differently. Didn't get anything out of the pretty much same parts as you didn't.

I'm glad you guys didn't hear any "vacation with my parents/my lifetime in hell"-sque lines. ;)
 
I will re-listen to it. It also depends on how Mikael pronounces "fragile". British or American. Or Swenglish ("y" as in "yentle storm"). ;)

Call me mad, but i think in the first chorus (1:10) Mikael sings "fragile", in the second (2:00) "brittle" and in the bridge part (4:00) "virgin". :loco:

Virgin would also make sense, though! After all that guy denies the "unknown world".

Or it simply has a metaphoric meaning. Ever read some poetic verses? ;)
 
I think I made out some more bits...

Beyond the total weak despair --> This line most probably starts with "The..." and ends with "despair." In-between I think I hear something like "ruin" or "ruined".

None too sentient --> It is possible that this is "nod to sentience", as I hear an "s"-like sound at the end.

By locks our filthy states --> I can hear a "the" before the word "locks" or whatever it really is. Also, I don't think he sings "filthy". It seems to be a word with an "s" rather than a "th".

But hey, these details are almost impossible to hear through the music and the growling. I'm curious to find out what the real lyrics are. I'm sure we're creating a lot of mondegreens here. ;)

Yup, I cant make anymore out of those lines, it's just guessing. "By locks.."-sounds that I can hear: by xxx our/are fills e stays. :err:
