LotR: The Two Towers <---- I am seeing this movie! Post here

...i don't know what is coming over this world... two days ago i mentioned to a friend that i wanted to see the two towers and he thought i was talking about a movie about september 11th

another pointless LOtR-related note: i visited an exhibition of Rembrand etchings (and a few paintings) recently, and one particular portrait of a young man looks very much like Frodo in the first movie :)

ok, ok, i didn't mean there had to be humour put in, but it's involuntarily amusing when everybody acts dead serious and at least some of them are not really good at it. the obvious choices were to gather real good actors (a bit like in kennet branagh's hamlet: ppl who does that live on stage every night) or give in to the popularity rule and add a few traces of levity: they wouldn't have been tr00 to the b00k, but everything would have added up a bit more smoothly imo. :)

rahvin.

uhmmmm you're right on that, but to me there's probably bad acting just in Liv Tyler's part and probably Merry...the rest of the actors IMHO play really great.
But anyway, once again, I'm quite sure that im 167'5% biased because I love the book so much, and just with the first 5 mins of the first movies, I nearly pissed my undies, so who am I to say :p

@FV: Yeah, your problem is your incontinence. But you know what the First Rule is, because for it is written: "Do not piss your underpants when watching a movie". :p

@|ngenius: thief of time is quite a hard book for the non-initiates... i think i'd be pretty scared if i had started with thief of time. it seems terry of late separates the "serious" books from the "just for fun" ones a lot more. the last hero was probably a better choice for pissing your undies. ;)

I think I'll see the movie (maybe an undubbed version, cause actors making the dubbing always sound like gays...) even though I didn't like FOTR that much... For me TT will probably be (just like a FOTR) 2,5 hours of nice comedy...

Man I agree with every word you wrote here

Tonight The Two Towers!!!!!!

......
Only four hours to go!
Yaay..
Can't wait!
*takes a sip of her coffee*

WaaargH!

Okay, having finally something else than just medicine and snot in my head, I'll join this topic.

Although I disagree with Rahvin 100% considering the dialoque and "seriousness" of the characters in the movie, I can't but curse the bad taste (heh) of Peter Jackson for casting Liv Tyler to almost ruin the movie. Nothing against her acting, but every time I see her in the movie, the illusion gets shattered immediately - it's not Middle-Earth anymore I'm watching but a stupid Hollywood-movie. Having no Arwen at all would have been a far better option, IMHO - her character is in no way important to the whole story and many a more important character was left out ("Fatty" Bolger and Glorfindel, to name some - and I'm not even going to Tom Bombadil). The comment-track on the extended DVD-edition of the film, has Jackson talking with the writers about why some characters and parts of story were left out and even though I buy their excuses, there's no way I ever believe Arwen's artificially enlargened role to be nothing but ass-kissing of the romance-thirsty American audience.

That being said, the first movie was FAR better than I had expected, especially regarding its endurance - I have now seen it more than a dozen times and yet don't find it boring at all. I'll spare my judgement of the Two Towers until I've seen the movie myself - in a few days, if all goes as planned. Too bad the local "theater" can't really be called a theater ("Kajaanin katseluhuone" is the more proper term)... :(

There's no shelob

I refuse to believe that  leaving Shelob out is heresy, but then again I'm not sure if I want to see a dumbass like Sam beat a mighty monster.

Though I'd like to see a CG Shelob.

I think it was strongly suggested that Shelob will be in the third movie. I am so pissed...about 1 hour into the movie, all of a sudden, it just stops. The movie stops, and they start showing those dumbass screens like "Thank you for not talking during the movie!" and "Visit the snack bar!" Man, there was almost a riot. After about 15 minutes, it started up again, but it kind of ruined the whole atmosphere. In any case, I was once again awed by the movie.

IT WAS GREAT!

...
I've seen the marathon yesterday, and it was great. Well, the first (sound)cd of the Fellowship sucked a hard time, it was like 3 tones too high or something :S  really horrible. But luckily, that got better. (I think the music is very, very important in these movies..) I couldn't wait to see the TT though, so I didnt enjoy the Fellowship as much as I did when I first saw it. (Or the second time I saw it.)
Anyway, TTT has a lot of fights, a big love story about Aragorn and Arwen, a lot of moral, and.. a lot of Gollem! Which really rocked. You see him talking with his alter-ego.. and his voice.. It's just really cool.
Everyone has to see this movie.
Although it wasnt as good as the Fellowship.. :(
But yeah, thats the story where you meet the characters and so on..had to be better.. And I didnt like the second book as much either.

Well, it really was.. amazing.

*yawn* Bit tired now though.. :s :) Duh.
