Love of Live (part två)

^ Sucks! Seems as if the trip wasn't worth, at all. And for a six-hour-trip, that's pretty horrible.

no, i think it worthed. i really wanted to see heidevolk and i was nearly ready for everything to reach my goal.
then i met some people that i didn't see from long time, like some friends who live in Milan. in the last 1-2 years i rarely went there for concerts because the biggest part of concerts i was interested in were in Bologna instead (which is also nearer), but this time they moved they heavy asses to come to bologna!
and last in line i had to do some photos for a folk/viking metal portal so couldn't miss the concert in any case...

(Notice the "small" correction I made.)

Cool! Post the links of your photos when they're up!

I'm fucking pissed off cause Rotting Christ canceled AGAIN their gig here, for the same reasons than Borknagar couldn't make it to SA.

I wanted to see Rammstein live but the ticket prizes are ridiculously high (almost 100 euro? are you kidding me?).

I played live yesterday in Valparaíso - my hometown - where we were the headliner, so I was on stage at 4:00 am. Oh, man, it really sucks. Besides that, the same day/night the '1000 drum' cultural festival was done, leaving the half of the city damaged in several ways: broken glasses/stores, burnt trashcans, stolen/broken cars and so on...I dunno where the fuck is the cultural thing on those events; even the place where I was playing was attacked, but nothing happened, since the club has tons of security. The thing is that I had to cross the whole city to get a taxi and get back home, like 6:30-7:00am. 'Twas the most horrible gig I've done ever; even the girlfriend of one of my bandmates was more 'affectionate' than usual; everything was so wrong...

Vaya, que mierda, lo siento mucho.

Hehe I wouldn't have played at 4:00, unless there was a contract. So the 1K drum festival seems to be… an excuse to destroy things? Not much culture in that, as you said. So she was hitting on you, or touching your bandmate's private parts? :p

De cualquier forma, ¡ánimo! No sé, ponte a escuchar a Mr V o algo jajaja.

Valparaíso is one of the main attractions of Chile, besides it's the 'cultural capital of the country', therefore many events related to culture are done there. Those 'carnivals' are always done at the end of the year, but the problem is the content. There're almost no traces of 'culture' on them, it's just an excuse to drink at streets and destroy things without being caught by the police. I don't attend those events, cause the music played usually suck and people is totally drunk and do stupid things. About the girl, she was trying to say/do something with me but I, of course, dismissed her.

To play live that late is pretty common here, where all gigs start like 1:00am . I got well paid of course, but to watch 4-5 mediocre bands waiting for your turn sucks. I couldn't go out of the club, due the teargas.

When you play live a lot, shit also happens a lot. I'm kinda used to this kind of stuff or any other problems, like bad sound/backline, very small stages, people trying to get in stage to destroy things, gigs ended for fights, etx. It's not like it always happens, but I've experienced all that shit thru all these years, so it doesn't really affect me.

Now that I'll play at south again, I'm getting very worried about it, since I might meet some people I don't wanna see anymore. Shit happens.

Cool, didn't know that. I guess "Santiago" is simply "the polluted city", then  .

I know exactly what you mean!!!!! Here we have the "Fiestas de Palmares", a pathetic excuse to go and get wasted. The problem is, getting wasted is part of the CRn culture, something that I hate (then again, I don't consider myself "tico". I feel more Canadian/German/British).

Back on topic, good boy, it's always hard to reject your best friend's girl. My motto is "never leave your friend with your girlfriend alone in a room".

Wow, care to talk about any amusing experience when playing? Sounds like "lots of fun" hehe.

I understand too, when you talk about "meeting people you don't like". That's my usual worry when I go to gigs here, but I'm kind of over the "trauma" now.

next saturday (the 16th) i'm going to see folkstone and furor gallico, 2 italian folk metal bands. i like them even if i'm usually not a great fan of italian metal.
i'm going to do photos as always, this time for the first group itself :D

then nothing intersting will happen for the rest of the month regarding concerts.
but november it will be a delirious month. i think i need to take out a bank loan!!!!
i surely can't miss Lordi which will play very near to me, i would like to see Alice Cooper, even if i don't like him too much it's a show that must be seen at least once in life. then i would like to go to see Napalm Death but they play the same day of Alice, and i haven't been given the gift of ubiquity....damn! and i'm interested in taake too but they play very far and in coincidence with Lucca Comics and Games which is a big manifestation that my friends and i don't miss every year for no reasons in the world. and let's not speak about many other concerts to which i'm sure i will not be able to go... :bah:

on dicember i must not miss Impaled nazarene (the 4th), finntroll + samael + rotting christ + metsatöll (the 8th) and kreator + exodus + death angel (the 15th).

and then this year of concerts will be done, and my plans stop here for now.

Nice! I'd definitely go and see Taake, it's one of those few (the only one?) Pure Norsk Svart Metal bands that I love.

Napalm Death is excellent live, brilliant gig. But then again, Alice is older, so I'd go and see Alice instead.

Nice, I've always wanted to see Samael, one of my favourite bands.

I don't know if there are more spanish people than me.

But, these are my next concerts, all of them at Madrid.

30th October - Madrid Is The Dark Fest (Day 2) - Primordial, Rapture, Forgotten Tomb, Mael Mórdha.

13th November - Therion + Loch Vostok + Leprous

16 th December - Paul Gilbert (I'm not sure)

i've seen taake 2 or 3 years ago, so it's not a big loss if i'm not going.

yeah alice is quite old and i don't know for how long he will be still able to tour, so it's probably a good occasion to catch!!!!

i've seen samael something like 3 times last year. they played everywhere i wanted to go! and this year too. i'm going mostly for rotting christ and they play so fucking low in the running order :bah:

so i've finally managed to upload all the live music vids i still had on my computer... so here's a couple of those from Heidenfest in Tivoli, Utrecht, NL, on Sept. 19

as you can see, Ensiferum was tons of fun! :kickass::headbang: the reason why i was standing on the balcony is obvious :D

Here's Twilight of the Gods (all-star Bathory tribute band) in case somebody was wondering what it was like...

also i have noticed that youtube's policy on the length has changed and it now allows to upload vids up to 15 minutes in length, while it used to be up to 10 min. This means i could now upload some older lengthy vids i have, one of them being Opeth's Blackwater Park i filmed last april in Essen. I thought Novembers might be interested... :)

Toll, thanks for the videos. And the concerts… speechless, I always feel jealous about how many great bands you see. Amorphis and Orphaned Land the same day = instant musical orgasm.

@defiance: yes they are a great live band, and the show itself, including the lightplay, is pretty amazing.

@elvina: the black troll tour seems very intersting.
cool that some tours are the same as here, like heidenfest or amorphis + orphaned. but i'm not going there, i don't like amorphis so much, and i have already seen them twice. i'm quite sad for orphaned becuase i've never seen them, but i have to make some choices, i cannot go to every concert in which i'm interested in.

well this time it's not so much to see (if you compare the list with one of last year at the same time, or beginning of this year) - only 4 gigs in 3 months. That's pretty quiet for dutch standards! The one i was rrrrrrreally really looking forward to for months - Enslaved + Negura Bunget - was canceled because Enslaved postponed the whole tour for at least 6 months :yuk: They were offered to open up for Dimmu Borgir and i guess they couldn't turn down such an easy buck...

Anyway, i'm also looking forward to see Amorphis! I'm not familiar with Orphaned Land other than the name so i'm also curious what the fuss is about :) This gig is just 15 min by train away from where i live so i just can't miss it! If it was where Borknagar played last year for ex. i wouldn't have bothered either to travel 2 hours one way :p

The last one is a festival and the 2-days ticket costs 77 euro, so i guess it's a good thing there aren't more gigs in december! :dopey: The main attraction for me are Immortal and Alcest which play on different days so i will have to go for that 2 days ticket.

I saw Svartsot yesterday, supported by a new Danish folk-metal act called Huldre. Both bands played great, and both played real ancores (songs not on the setlist), although in Huldre's case that meant they had to play a song they had already played, as their repertoire isn't very long yet, ha ha!

Anyway, what really made the night stick out for me was that, among others, they played Otyg between the bands! Imagine my surprise, and pure bliss!

One of those bands I'd love to see, I wonder how they handle the electronics.

Well I'm sure there're a lot of prog gigs you're not going to, as Nederland is the land of Prog (metal) bands.

I'd love to see Amorphis, I'm actually thinking of translating the Kalevala into English. But I need to know if a publishing house might be interested, as it'd be a Brobdingnagian amount of work.

Nice! I haven't heard much Svartsot, but I liked what I heard. And Otyg, that must've been nice! I guess it's the closest one'll ever get to a live gig by them.
