Yeah, love songs are cheesy shit and overdone, but keep in mind that most music listeners and in fact most people are mindless sheep. As a result, they will listen to whatever the radio plays and if the scumsucking DJ says "this is the hot shit, Kelly Clarkson!" they will buy Kelly Clarkson CDs and Kelly Clarkson shirts and Kelly Clarkson mug coasters and Kelly Clarkson cock rings and whatever else the Industrial Pop-Star Complex decides to make in the likeness of the new cash cow.
Indie rock is basically sad love songs with non-existant guitar riffs and people masturbating to their old Pavement records. They will buy whatever Pitchfork tells them is cool.
So while love songs basically suck ass, artists will never ever stop making them. There's too much money to be made!
