Love songs

well you still haven't responded to my suggestions for FAILURE AND HUM, yep you should check into those bands man

Failure - Fantastic Planet

Hum _ You'd prefer an astronaut
rest assured, I will.

also, much can be said for Peter Gabriel in the love songs realm. His perspective on love is very sensual and tribal. I find it very interesting.

The best love songs ever are by Opeth on Morningrise

Nectar
Black Rose Immortal
To Bid You Farewell

and maybe
Face of Melinda
Isolation Years

...or "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas

man when PT randomly played heartattack in a layby in atlanta i couldnt believe it. that is one of my all time favorite songs. listen to it when its raining and youre in the car parked with the seat leaned back. incredible. i love the vocal harmonies (stunning) and the overall atmosphere is incredible. thanks for pointing out this great song. :hotjump:

Did anyone mention Benighted? Im not sure it is a love song, but I say it is really sad.. Or passioned, to say the least :P

Btw "My humps" bad song. best video since "Call on me"... kek!

benighted has a cool vibe and a pretty solo...only thing that annoys me is when he keeps repeating the chorus or whatever...distorted sight..something benighted fright...i dont know. cool song nonetheless.

i tend to believe the best love songs out there are the ones that do not have the word "love" in their lyrics. think of dream theater's "lifting shadows off a dream." now that is some beautiful imagery. or say opeth's "benighted."

Dave Matthews has always been one of my fav lyricists for love songs. Also nick drake is my god for that sort of stuff. Iron and wine have some good love songs, as do the red house painters, rx bandits, the beatles, and phish. I love porcupine tree's as well.

Porcupine Tree write love songs?
there are enough fanboys on this forum to somehow rationalize that...

imo the best love songs are by Foreigner, Journey, Unicorn, Pain of Salvation, and the mighty Van Halen.

edit: lmao, just realized this is an ancient thread and i already replied to it, with nearly the same set of bands. guess i still have the same opinion

"You are not alone, I am here with you..."

If I were ten years younger, that line alone would make me check my closet every night for Michael Jackson. Fuck the Boogeyman, Michael's scary enough.

Yeah, love songs are cheesy shit and overdone, but keep in mind that most music listeners and in fact most people are mindless sheep. As a result, they will listen to whatever the radio plays and if the scumsucking DJ says "this is the hot shit, Kelly Clarkson!" they will buy Kelly Clarkson CDs and Kelly Clarkson shirts and Kelly Clarkson mug coasters and Kelly Clarkson cock rings and whatever else the Industrial Pop-Star Complex decides to make in the likeness of the new cash cow.

Indie rock is basically sad love songs with non-existant guitar riffs and people masturbating to their old Pavement records. They will buy whatever Pitchfork tells them is cool.

So while love songs basically suck ass, artists will never ever stop making them. There's too much money to be made!
