Up the irons, my friends :kickass:

There are two bands, I could talk endlessly about..one of em is Dream Theater and the other Band is Iron Maiden:

I don´t know, how you feel..but there was some serious disappointments in the last years. For me.."Brave new world" was a great comeback, but "Dance of Death" was a gigantic dissapointment..sound,-and production wise IMO.

What do you think about "Dance of Death"? I cannot make my personal peace with this record. "A matter of life and death" did not pass the test of time for me as well :( This makes me sad! What is your opinion about Iron Maiden and the last years?

A Maiden Fan.

Huge, huge Maiden fan here. They, as I have always called them, are not a band, but a huge fucking empire! I can always listen to this band, no matter how I feel, or where I am, to me, they are like pizza and sex, theres no such thing as bad pizza or bad sex. Its just whether its good or its great.

Same goes for their albums, and I agree with you. How good were the first 25 odd years. The last 2 albums havent been great, like powerslave great or seventh son great, but still quite goddamn good. there will never be another band like them, and I look forward to their next 15 years.:headbang:

Hahaha yeah, dude! You are on the right place here :) Althouh I´d say, I´m very critically when it´s about Maiden. For me "Brave New World" has one of the greates songs of their complete work. "Ghost of the navigator" is fucking awesome! My expectation for Dance of death was so bloody high..I love the solos on this record and the title track has some great dramatic moments, but under the line, I was very disappointed. "A matter of life and death" was better and I dig some of the epics, indeed. But why they played the complete album on tour 2006?? Aaaaargh!

I was really disappointed with Dance of Death when it came out. Had a hard time to get past the "production" on this one. Then again I think there's some really strong material there. I hope they will remix and remaster it someday to do it justice. Speaking of production - the last production I truly love would actually be Fear of the Dark... still trying to nail that Powerslave guitar tone, though :worship:

Yeah, to true. Brave new world was fucking awesome. That and seventh son hold a special place in my heart. (thats probably why I cant fit anything else in there!). There is no bigger buzz for me than when Maiden release a new album.
It is a damn privalige to have grown up with these talented lot. I had my reservations about Yannick, but they soon deminished.

Not a fan of Dream theatre, so I would swap them with Motorhead, another band I love. To me they are the best rock&roll band in the world. Better than Maiden, I would like to say yes, but I cant.

Went to the Somewhere back in time tour here in Melbourne with 2 mates that are also Maiden mad, came to "heaven can wait", got to the interlude where all the crew comes out on stage, put my arms around my 2 mates, they did the same, (we shall call it, male bonding) and sung whoooahoohhoohh, whoooahoohhoohhoohhoohh, whoooahoohhooh, whoooahoohhoohhoohhoohh, and that was the first time that I felt that i loved my mates. (God I hope they dont read this!). No other band could do this to me, except maybe Cannibal or Suffo, although those 2 bands wouldnt put me in the mood for lovin' ...............................:puke:

I like the Dance of Death album. I think it has some great songs (Montsegur, Rainmaker, No More Lies...). It's not the best Maiden out there but good anyway. The sound does not bother me, I think it fits just fine and I like the live feel on this album.

Haven't listened the newest album but few times. Seems like a load of crap :erk:

There are IM fans in this forum? :D WOW!

When I discovered Iron Maiden back in 4th grade, my life changed. Yes, they aren't only a band, but a huge fuckin empire! I love every single album of theirs except virtual XI and X factor. Blaze Bailey can go to hell. The last 3 albums did not disappoint me at all, even though they are nothing compared to early albums like Powerslave or Killers. We'd experience these kinda situations with every goddamn band out there. Blame it on commercialism. But take it like this: I'd rate all of their albums (only bruce's and paul's, though) work above 9/10, but the last 2 albums above 7/10. So yeh, FMPOV they aren't so bad after all. Dance of Death had some serious mastering issues, but I don't find anything wrong with their work. Every band has there ups and downs, but with bruce's blessings, nothing can go seriously wrong - surveying from the Number of the Beast album till A Matter of Life and Death. They are and will always be Iron Maiden - A band that really knows how to keep up with industrial trends without degrading quality.

So here's a list of all my favourite albums, most to least. Mind you, the last in the list would still be my favourite 'cause this is a list of all my favourite albums:lol:

1. Powerslave
2. Killers
3. Iron Maiden
4. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
5. The Number of the Beast
6. Piece of Mind
7. Somewhere in Time
8. Brave New World
9. No prayer for the Dying
10. Dance of Death
11. A Matter of Life and Death
12. Fear of the Dark

I really miss Paul Di'Anno, though. What he did on the first 2 albums were mind-blowing.

It´s great, there are some true Maiden fans here! I salute you, bros :kickass:

The first Iron Maiden song I ever heared was "Afraid to shoot strangers". This changed my life completely. "Fear of the Dark" is very special for me, as well. Maybe this is one of the best Metal song ever written!

My favourite album is the Seventh son of a seventh son..directly followed by:

2. Somewhere in time ( perfect atmosphere & awesome cover)
3. Brave new World ("Ghost of the navigator"..so kudos to Janick Gers)
4. Powerslave (one of the best tom sounds and great drum performance)
5. Piece of mind (fucking love "Still live" and "to tame a land")
6. The number of the beast ( Hallowed by thy name!!!!!!!!!!! :worship:)
7. Fear of the dark (brought me to Metal)
8. Rock in Rio (my favourite live album)
9. Killers ( Harris :worship: "Prodigal son" is a god ballade)
10. No prayer for the dying (I made my peace with it..finally)

"A Matter Of Life And Death" has the new Metallica syndrome... they needed to trim the fat from 7-8 minute tunes down to 4 minutes or so. Mind you, I really like their longer songs (i.e. Powerslave, To Tame A Land, Mariner, Phantom...), but the new epics seem to just plod along without going anywhere. I do really dig the drumming of post-reunion Nicko...

I must say, my best show ever was Iron Maiden (Somewhere Back In Time), last year in Montreal at the Heavy MTL festival. The ambience was unique, everything was so perfect!
I didn't think for a second the crowd would start moshing at the beginning of Aces High, it was definitely crazy. And Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner really was insane with the huge ship coming down, in sync with the song. Bruce had some very great costumes, adding to the ambience, and he was really top shape, singing and climbing on top of the stage doing so. The performances were spot-on, all in all I'll remember this show all my life.

Hahahahah! I just remembered, my old lady took that tape off me when she saw "number of the beast". Told me I wasnt to listen to the Devils music!:saint:
Now look at me!

Hahahahaha same here...My parents was not happy. As I was a 13 years old kid, I had an awesome Iron Maiden t-shirt. It was Eddie playing bass..and the quality of the print was so great! My mom gave it to the clothing collection for poor african children. God damn it!! I actually wanted to visit the congo..just to find the african guy, who wears my fucking Eddie Shirt!! Hahaha small Felix middle in the civilwar, in search of the beloved Iron Maiden shirt :D
