Maiden fans..let´s talk.

Hahahahaha same here...My parents was not happy. As I was a 13 years old kid, I had an awesome Iron Maiden t-shirt. It was Eddie playing bass..and the quality of the print was so great! My mom gave it to the clothing collection for poor african children. God damn it!! I actually wanted to visit the congo..just to find the african guy, who wears my fucking Eddie Shirt!! Hahaha small Felix middle in the civilwar, in search of the beloved Iron Maiden shirt :D

I have just officially pissed myself laughing.

I really would like to know, where the fuck it is...I´ll start a call :D

Exactly this image was on the shirt!! With red and white print in awesome good quality (not like the shirts of today).

Ah, A real live one/ A real dead one era shirt. I have one of those. In fact, my closet has about 6 maiden shirts in it lol. I dont wear them too often these days though. My oldest one is about 9 years old, and it truly is fcked- i just cant bear to throw it way like a regular shirt, it'd be wrong right!

I LOVE Maiden. I first got into them around 1986 or so. I actually got to meet them all in 2000 on the BNW tour--that was pretty awesome.

For albums, I have to put them this way:

1. Piece of Mind
2. Number of the Beast
3. Powerslave
4. Somewhere in Time
5. 7th Son
6. Killers
7. A Matter of Life and Death
8. Iron Maiden
9. Brave New World
10.Dance of Death

Talk about parents and devil worship stuff--I got a tape of a Christian band called Barren Cross when I was a kid. The singer was something of a Bruce clone, so once that was a known quantity, I could get away with Iron Maiden.

A small margin note..I just visited AMAZON Germany and the welcome page is full of Iron Maiden offers (because I talk about Iron Maiden here in the forum). This is scary..how do they get the informations? Any one a recommendation for dealing with those fucking bots?

Brave New World

I didn't care for this album at all, but to be fair, it had the misfortune of being compared directly against the (IMO, far superior) Bruce/ Adrian/ RoyZ albums that preceeded it. I had been enthusiastic about their return to the Irons, but when I heard BNW.. man... it was like my divorced mum had been dating a super cool new guy who treated me great and took me to fun places, then she suddenly tells me she's reconciled with my father, a drunken indifferent sad-sack. :(

Even if I go back and try to form an opinion of BNW on its own merits, I can't get past the way Bruce seemed to have taken a songwriting refresher course with someone who told him that all choruses should be the title of the song repeated four times. Did he always do that and it's just more obvious / irritating now? :erk:

Dance of Death

I really really love the song Paschendale, but only up until the fantastically boring solo section starts. The rest of the songs, eh.

Life & Death

A dig a few parts here and there, but the songs are so long that the good riffs or melodies are a chore to get to, if not totally negated, by the bland ones. Each song becomes an active risk / reward calculation instead of a relaxed listening experience.

Personally, my favourite Iron Maiden albums are Brave New World and Dance of Death.
I love all the string parts in the songs Blood Brothers and BNW, and i love Paschendale and DoD (both masterpieces imo).
I thought it was great that they did something new and stayed away from the 'classic' maiden song style (not that there's anything wrong with it,
they just needed something different and fresh)

I didn't really care for A matter of Life and Death though, thought it was very mediocre.

I have been a Maiden fan since iwas 9 years old..and i 'm 36 now! I remember when NOTB was released and one of my friends who was older when to see them. I just got to look at the concert programme afterwards!!!..remember programmes!!????

I love all the new stuff (with Bruce and Adrians return). Except for the odd song I think they are totally on form. They are bunch of down-to-earth british guys who keep there lives pretty private and can in no way be compared with the Metallica dickheads!! Plus Maidens post millenium output pisses all over Hetfield & Co.

Bruces voice lost a bit of subtley and finesse during Seventh Son, No Prayer & Fear of the Dark period but since he has returned to the band his vocals have taken on a new quality. He is an awesome singer!

...and i am not gonna knock Matter of... or Dance of Death either. So many awesome songs on these. Totally brilliant solos from Smith and Murray!!! How underated is Davey???? His legato blows me away:worship:

It´s great, there are some true Maiden fans here! I salute you, bros :kickass:

The first Iron Maiden song I ever heared was "Afraid to shoot strangers". This changed my life completely. "Fear of the Dark" is very special for me, as well. Maybe this is one of the best Metal song ever written!

My favourite album is the Seventh son of a seventh son..directly followed by:

2. Somewhere in time ( perfect atmosphere & awesome cover)
3. Brave new World ("Ghost of the navigator"..so kudos to Janick Gers)
4. Powerslave (one of the best tom sounds and great drum performance)
5. Piece of mind (fucking love "Still live" and "to tame a land")
6. The number of the beast ( Hallowed by thy name!!!!!!!!!!! :worship:)
7. Fear of the dark (brought me to Metal)
8. Rock in Rio (my favourite live album)
9. Killers ( Harris :worship: "Prodigal son" is a god ballade)
10. No prayer for the dying (I made my peace with it..finally)

Felix, Dude i think we have similar taste on the Maiden albums . Basically agree with you on 1-5 :headbang:

Wrooaaaargh this feels not good :( Do they know the word privacy?! Wait...in 20 years, you THINK about a beer and someone immediately rings at the door.."wanna buy a fresh cold beer"? haha Brave new world, dudes.

@16s I agree about the solos, dude! The solos are awesome and imo the highlight of the DOD album. "Matter of..." has some brilliant epics!

Yeah, it´s good to hear, dude :kickass: Fucking love those records.

Have someone of you already seen the new Iron Maiden DVD flight 666?

I've been a hardcore Maiden fan since I was 12, I can honstly say that I don't dislike any of their albums, I can find something good about all of them. I wasn't a fan of AMOLOD when it first came out, but it's oddly grown on me... I was actually listening to it when I opened this thread (I also dig kevin shirley's video that came with the album which shows maiden in the studio).

I'd also have to say that X Factor is one of my fav albums, the production isn't great, but it has some really doomy overtones and great songwriting, anyone who seen maiden on those blaze tours would have seen a band giving 110%, say what you like about that era, but to see maiden playing as the underdogs was indeed something special! :headbang:

I bought Flight666 and watched the live stuff and the movie a few times now. The live stuff is awesome & makes me realise that although i don't get that excited about Janicks solos, he is an excellent guitarist. Everything he does is looks effortless :worship:

Actually one of the best things about the movie IMO is the footage of the fans - best i've ever seen. Some nice girls , men &woman full of emotion and people in some of the poorist countries just going mental for this band!:worship:

Who would have guessed it with a name like "tears of the dragon" :D

I was at the cinema with all the maiden fans, it was crazy!!! One of the best films i have ever seen in terms of enjoyment :)

Now in terms of albums... the only way i can judge is by the sheer number of times i have played the tracks off them, so i think (and this will probably change daily):

1. Brave New World. My first Maiden album believe it or not, and I remember being in audio ecstasy on the virgin listening post. This album's cd is scratched to fuck, and travelled with me accross Germany, Austria, Italy, South of France, Monaco and back to blighty!

2. Number of the Beast. Spent far to many hours trying to get tones and learn the tunes on guitar, I even spent a horrible amount of time watching adrian smith tutorial videos haha.

3. Somewhere in time. One of my favourite productions ever, just love the icey sounds.

4. Powerslave. Some of the best riffs, short and sweet songs, really raw and dry.

5. Virtual XI - Actually had this borrowed off my brothers mate who was a chef in nottingham when I was about 13, so it holds a special memory of how i got into them! :)

My mates will tell you how they used to test me, asking me say "Track 9 off of Maidens 3rd album" and then i'd come back straight away and say "Hallowed be thy name, NOTB"
