MaNoWaR - what, where, why, how?

Yes you know better, and your opinions about Manowar are true-er than mine.
The "Reason" that you posted was just a boy's thoughts, not the thoughts of THOUSANDS. GEEEEEET OVER IT. 20000 people go to a Manowar concert, do they think the same about their music? Do they all say the thing that you wrote in your first post ? Why a bands popularity must be scientifically explained?
Hey... Read JayKeeley's first post again and it should become clear to you that if you're not out to dissect the reasons behind Manowar's popularity then quite simply you are in the wrong thread. And heh, I could find LOTS of similar statements only around the web so I'd think that kind of people makes up a sizable portion of Manowar's fan base, because they're everywhere... The stereotypical Manowar fan. Even Manowar themselves say that Manowar is about battling the problems of your daily lives, standing up to fight, not letting people tread on you, blah blah blah...

"So tall, silent against the sky
Up through the clouds, where eagles fly
Wind and rain beat down on one so strong
They cut but never change, what stood so long
sky/fly
strong/long

HOLY SHIT WHY DID NOONE THINK OF THIS BEFORE? I BOW TO THE BRILLIANCE OF THIS POETRY

"The stereotypical ..." A fan is stereotypical when ti comes to MUSIC. He can do ANYTHING in his life and being stereotypical when it comes to a BAND. You found out the whole thing about the life of people who like Manowar, and you wrote it in your first post. Musical taste says NOTHING about someone's life

WHAT THE FUCK, do you even READ? He says stuff about his life, stuff like "I am a very shy person and I don't like dealing with people." Stuff like "Anytime I have to confront someone with an issue, I fire myself up by listening to Manowar first." Now I've read tens of the same types of quotes for fun before, and they tell me that THIS is the stereotypical Manowar fan -- someone who's insecure enough in his daily life to turn to Manowar for strength and courage. Now I'm sure that's great for them but personally I don't need Manowar for that, nor for their rather forgettable (at best) or laughable (at worst) music.

SO -- his musical taste doesn't tell about his life as such, but when he tells me BOTH about his musical taste AND his life, and somehow these two coincide with plenty of other fans then that's going to make me form an image of the stereotypical Manowar fan. Which I've done. And so far, it holds pretty well.

I was reffering to the first part of your first post, when you talk about peole who like Manowar are like this and that, they like these and that, etc

It's hard to say. There must be something about their message, music and their image that people quickly identify with. As has already been stated, their music isn't very impressive, their lyrics are often laughable, and their whole image is hysterical. Yet I, like most of the folks on the board, own a few Manowar discs, "Hail to England" being my favorite.

And i didnt say that manowar lyrics are .. "divine poetry", i said that some of them can be considered poetry, for example:
Apples Of Youth When I Wrought Mischief
Hung In A Tree To Rot In The Sun
Reborn In The Middle Of The Final Orgy
A Gift Of Slavery To The Chosen One

Yeah, exactly, the second part of my post was an example of that, now what the fuck is your point again?
omg.... you talked about all the people who like Manowar and you talked about their tastes/success with women/age , judging ONLY about the fact that they are Manowar fans, THATS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.
read again the first part of your post.

Anyhoo. The people who listen to Manowar are people with mediocre 9-5 lives who want to dream themselves away and think they're warriors in a world of glory and steel and/or anxious 14-year old boys who like Lord of the Rings and roleplaying who have a bit of difficulty talking to girls and stuff and seek their strength in Manowar, with all their confidence and talk of UNITY AND BROTHERS OF METAL WILL ALWAYS STAND! Yeah. As I see it, the sole reason that Manowar has gotten so big is that it really caters to the millions of people who need something bigger and stronger to turn to for courage and hope. Kinda like christianity.
Isn't that why people listen to Heavy Metal though? Larger-than-life music and lyrics helping 'em through mundane school/jobs, something to help get away from real life shit? The means differs slightly for each sub-genre but ultimately THAT'S WHAT METAL'S ABOUT IN THE FIRST PLACE, innit?

As for ManOwaR (that's the right way to do it, douchebags :p)...cool songs with cool riffs, cool solos, cool vocals, cool lyrics, cool bass, and more than enough frantic headbanging and air guitaring and great goddamn FUN which at the end of the day is fucking COOL. It's also cool how they wear whatever they want (notice how the fact they haven't worn loincloths for at least 15 years is immaterial to some people here - when did you guys get so concerned about image?) and spout whatever they want without giving a damn what people think. I thought that was also something about what is was to be a Metal fan, back in the day.
So, what's up, douchebags? You're getting worked up about this band because you're all self-conscious about what people should wear and how people should act and speak? Ripping solos and screaming lungs not your thing? WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING ON A METAL FORUM THEN?!?!?!

This thread proves that!

About the "gay" thing - I know it's just a 12 year old's figure of speech kinda thing - but I always thought it was hysterical in the case of ManOwaR (thanks Ayekkka :loco: ) since they've probably won the hearts of more female groupies than KISS and Elvis Presley put together!!!
