Masking a really sheddy vocal

Tried that, and he requested no fx on vocals, so thats the way its going, no pitch correcting, nothing.

And the rest of the mix does sound fairly badass - the vocals do sound pretty out of place. Really thin, out of tune and in the middle of what is actually a pretty beefy mix.

I wouldn't do shit to the vox other than normal eq/comp/delay/verb. The band will have to realize "damn we sound badass but this vocalist sucks."

Öwen dude, I really like the snare! Haha, it's not my type of snare at all but for some unknown reason, I love it :D It's like... fuck, I don't know, I just like it in a weird way :)

I'm sorry you had to deal with a singer like that but hey... some good experience will come out of it in the end!

Thanks! (Woah, finally a positive/nothing to do with the singing comment :p) Yeah, I rooting around for a sort of thuddy snare as opposed to the cracky snare as I thought it would fill out the track a bit, and I really like them - I know most folks prefer the snappy (or pingy) ones but I really like that fat snare sound.

Anyway, I was randomly throwing "fat snare" and such around on google and found this posted on gearslutz:

It's a pretty nice sample I must say, shame theres not a few more along with it but I duplicated it in Aptrigga and pitch shifted it up and down a few cents each way which made it sit a bit more naturally. :)
