Mastodon "The Hunter"

yes it's that good! the snare is godly and the toms really don't sound generic at all.
can anybody tell me which effect you have to use to get the kind of lead sound heard on "the sparrow" starting at 2.50min?
heard it a few times from bands throughout the years but never asked myself how to acheive it.

I think he asked about the sustain thing we hear on some parts.
Does a big muff do that kind of things ? (i never played through one)

The tone obviously sounds like a fuzz, but for the playing, I could be wrong but I think he alternate between picking and eBow (or sustainer) on some notes.
To me the whole first part of the lead sounds like legato + eBow.

You can definitely get some eBowish cray sustain out of a Big Muff, and the tone does sound like BM or something similar. Could be a Fuzz Factory, even.

OK ! ;)
But the first part of the lead really sounds like an eBow in "harmonic/octave mode".
It's really those notes when you hear the harmonics/+1 octave thing rising slowly that make me think it's an eBow.

I own an eBow, but never tried a BigMuff or any kind of fuzz, so I could be totally wrong :D

sounds like the guitar tones on this whole album were from some cheap ass pedal. maybe this... ?

Is anyone elses copy of the album distorted as fuck ? I just bought the digipack and played it on my hometheater and it´s beyond anything i´ve heard and the dvd too. Is it just mastered that way? I can listen to the record if I rip it into mp3´s and listen on my shitty pc speakers. Man I´m pissed!
